two for joy? [baked in a postgraduate pie]

Aj!!!!!!

The window wasn't suck - my brother could have opened it, but he if he did he got the horrible smell of decaying bird waft in! So it stayed shut. For me, that is funny.

I guess I just have a weird sense of humour.

Becuase when you are a ten year old boy that kind of thing is funny! Well I still think that it is funny that my brother couldn't open his window for most of the summer!

what info would make life easier?

My worst day was probably my third supervision where I threw up in the departmental toilets beforehand. The best? My last supervision (number 7) when I had research to show and felt proud, relaxed and pleased!

I wouldn't say working per-se...just reading up on some references thrown at me in a supervision today, whilst in bed. Tmrw I shan't work much so this is me 'loaning time'.

I am happy

Kudos on funding too!

I'm happy today because my monthly supervision went well and my sup's like the subject and material I have chosen for my first two chapters. I'm thrilled. The British library really came up trumps.

Plus I will be getting a couple of hundred words in space in a academic quarterly newsletter to harp on about my research to people in my field.

Yay!

Journal Papers, What do You Do?
C

I need the physicality of the paper to flip through and comment on, fold over, dump on the coffee table, curl up with in bed and on the sofa and stain or spill coffee over. I need to feel as though I'm doing something real. SO I print out. And 6 months in I have 3 ringbinders bursting at the seams.

What is another word for "Thank you"?
C

Piglet - you'll do fine! It seems like you are putting in a lot more thought than some of the acknowledgements I have read.

One PhD'er once named their pet cats in their acknowledgements. I don't think I will be puttng my goldfish in!

References and Bibliography

I think that it you put in everything that you had read over three years it would appear quite an incoherent mass (at least mine probably would!). A bit of discrimination of sources is a good thing!
