Anyone not using Endnote?

I used endnote to store info in, but I just can't get it to copy things properly into documents. So I do it manually...

Hej!

I do this! My part-time work is great in that I can often carry out my own work during work time. I do get stressed sometimes and feel that I don't do as much work as everybody else. But I think that this is a general PhD thing. I suppose if I was fully funded I would have more time - but I am sure that more of that free time would be spent chilling than working! I would love funding though!

How old were you when you started your PhD?
C

23 (practically a fossil!)

Sue - the two fish in the tank have each other for company to satisfy their schoaling instinct, and don't need stimuli from me. Goldfish only take seconds to feed, and as long as the tank has a filter the water needs only changing partially on a weekly basis.

Oh! They're so cute! For anybody in Manchester I heartily recommend the pet shop on Stockport Road opposite the Carling Apollo. It has a wide range of reptiles, birds, fish and mammals including Parrots, Toucans, marine fish, frogs, tortoises, sugar gliders, snakes....the works....it is like a little zoo and is a favourite place to visit on a lunch break....

The big orange one is called Marmalade...

The other one doesn't have an offical name. I wanted to have Marmalade on her own in the tank as a precious, spoilt treasure...but a friend got me another for my birthday as I had sooo much space. So I have called it Marmite....but don't use the name....it is always 'The other' no matter how pretty and nice it actually is....

I have two pet goldfish and I spoil them rotten. One of them is a beautiful Crown Pearlscale and will grow to the size of an orange (it is about satusma sixed now!) The other is a 'Black Moor'with big pop-out eyes' as is about 4" long.

They live in a huge tank -about 20 gallons in my bedroom and always swim around waiting for me to feed them. They swim around my hand when I put it in the tank too.

They're so relaxing.

I'll stop this embarassing rant about my fish now...

Student/Supervisor Relationships - how is yours?
C

The second supervisor takes more of a back seat - I always meet him with the first at our monthly supervision. I may see him around a little, and he always says hi etc..Our relationship is more formal- though I don't mind this. I think there are merits to both of their approaches.

I think a good working relationship relies on respecting boundaries - I don't think ringing them at home or telling them about every research hang-up you have is neccesary a 'good' relationship.

I'm jointly supervised and so have two different relationships. One emails me more frequently (work comments, funding app help, conferences), and I run into him in the hallway, campus shops or at departmental events during the week and 'check in' with one another. He is always very helpful and friendly, and we do have informal meetings over lunch or coffee sometimes - but I would never want to be able to ring him on his mobile or at home - he has a wife, children and personal life! I really appreciated it when he came to listen to my first paper.
