3 degree trying to apply for 2:1/ 2:2 course (any chance?)

Apology accepted admin ;) (for removing my link, though I don't really understand why, it was just a link to the prospects page with information PGDip and PGCerts, as opposed to advertising for such positions. Anyway, OP should be able find it with these key words now :P)

3 degree trying to apply for 2:1/ 2:2 course (any chance?)

First, I would have to disagree with Ian's last point which basically means the OP would be in a worse off position of not having a degree despite being 0.5% away from passing in the world where 50% correctness is 'done away with'. That's just not helpful.

I do, however, agree that options are much more limited, especially if you want to embark on the higher education route.

To me, there are two practical options:

1. As suggested in point 3) above, a PG diploma or cert (see link). These are sometimes seen as conversion-type courses (at least in Ireland, and I'm pretty sure in the UK too) so the entry requirements sometimes only require a Bachelors degree. This requirement varies between subjects and universities, naturally.

2. Work your way up in the industry you want to pursue. People drop out of university and manage to find jobs at the lowest level in a hierarchical company and work their way up. Work experience counts for so much more than a degree these days.

If you are willing to put in the work, you can work your way up. But you need to work. If you didn't work hard enough to earn good grades, then work hard to gain work experience.

G'luck!

Yeah, my general advice is based on sound, and it isn't that far away from truth (when truth is a website that teaches writing skills from a university, as linked).

So I'd vote 1) let it be an "mx1" vector :)

Hi Capone, I would second Pjlu's advice and suggest to wrap up what you have into a Masters and leave it at that. I am in a similar situation myself (exact same timeline too) and am hoping to finish with a research Masters by the end of summer. Although the supervision hasn't changed, at least the goals are quicker and easier to reach so that supervision isn't as important!

Quote From ReaderinPikey:
I only contribute to topics that are applicable today. That's obvious, isn't it? Or maybe you can't read?

Addressing to someone in a thread from 3 years ago isn't really contributing to a topic that is applicable today - there's no need to be so defensive about it.

I'd agree with Mackem_Beefy, the purpose of this forum is "to help current, future and previous postgraduate students to exchange ideas, get advice and generally help each other out" and although ReaderinPikey has given some pragmatic advice, dragging up old threads just to give advice that clearly isn't relevant anymore is questionable behaviour.

Have you tried your Uni library? If they don't have it they might be affiliated with other Unis and can help you apply for a an inter-library loan.

amazon.co.uk appears to have 3 of them in Used condition.

G'luck.

Noise is one thing, at least you can block it out! Recently I've noticed a sickly sweet artificial fruit smell coming out of nowhere...kind of like lockets/strepsils except much stronger and no menthol. Smell of it gives me a headache and I can't figure out who it is! (sprout)

Google Chrome vs Firefox

Quote From screamingaddabs:

I'd like to use open-source, but chrome is just fantastic for what I need. Quick and easy internet access. Not asking for anything fancy. It may do fancy stuff, but I don't know cos I don't need it.

http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php - chrome minus the potentially nasty google-data-grabbingness :)
