Forgive me I think that excusing your opinions purely on the fact that you go to Oxbridge is laughable. I'm at a reputable University (even if it isn't Oxbridge)and both my supervisor and close friend went to Oxford and neither is homophobic or neurotic. Forgive me as I dont personally know you but I think that you perhaps have some personal issues which you are trying to excuse. Brandishing everyone who goes or has gone to Oxbridge as 'weirdos' is stretching it a little!

Hi guys, I could do with an outside perspective on this. I live with my boyfriend who isn't in academia and consequently I don't think he understand how serious it is. We've been together almost three years and lately it seems all the domestic things get left to me, I spend my free time, doing laundry, cooking cleaning and tidying up after him. If I say anything he's goes in a strop and says 'well your here more than me'. Fine I am, but I don't sit round doing nothing all day. I'm writing and researching and doing all the other things it takes to get a PhD done. What should I do, I just feel so under appreciated.

Is there some kind of shared desire to frustrate patients/tutees! Had the draft of my chapter back with comments on from my supervisor and sat down this morning quite happily to go about the alterations. Problem, looks like a paralytic spider crawled over the page, it's taking me 5 minutes to deciphere his hand writing! On the one hand it's good training for my paleography skills, but on the other it's bloody frustrating. Really appreciate him taking the time to comment but next time a typed verion would be good I think :-)

Been trying to think of some, but combine horrible weather with deadline pressures and lousy viruses winging their way round everyone and you get a generally grumpy demeanor!

Working from home today and we have a wood facing the back of the house, winds really strong and the trees are making disturbing cracking and creaking noises! Having irrational fears regarding tree crashing through our window... good excuse for delay in getting chapter in though

on several occasions, a few have rational explanations and a few that didn't. Two I can recall especially to this day and they still freak the living daylights out of me!
