Best not to chococake, in case you want to send your supervisors chapters to read. Just my opinion, but it's best to combine the lot when finishing your first complete draft.

I know some hold with this but I wouldn't and my chapter lengths vary greatly and I'm happy with things as they are. It's how the thesis reads that should determine the chapters, in my opinion. I never sought advice about this but wrote the chapters in a way I felt comfortable with and my supervisors seem very happy with my chapters. I'm a firm believer that writing a thesis is a very individual thing and it's best to go with what feels right for that (your) particular study.

Good news about the job, I hope it works out. However, given that it's a 12 month research contract, would you not be looking for either an extended contract or another post of longer duration within that time. Loyalty is a great quality but I don't think an employer would expect you to stay to the very end and risk unemployment after. Sorry I couldn't answer your question but would just think it may not be an issue, in a sense.
