I understand your frustration. I am continually altering the language to UK English (via Tools I think) but after a while it always reverts back to American English. Havent found a solution to this one yet either

I have HUGE anxiety about my phd actually being far too bad for anyone to even bother viva-ing me. I went to see my supervisor last week for a chat, and got the impression that now that I've sumitted and am not officially a funded student anymore (hence she isnt being paid for supervising me anymore), I am nolonger her concern. She was nice to me, but didnt exactly encourage me to come by more often for a chat!

Dear mobile phone. I don't mind when you wake me up in the middle of the night with texts from eligible blokes, but please do not wake me up in the mornings even if I have pre-programmed you to do this. It is not big and it is not clever. Please also dont let me make phone calls/ send texts to people I shouldnt after too many beers.

As a social scientist, I reckon an average of 5 hours a day 4 or 5 days a week is about right. Obviously there are going to be some days when you work more than this, and others when you dont work at all
