You have not provided enough information for anyone to help I suspect. You have to do the hard work, it is an integral part of your project.

If each time you rewrite it, the piece improves, then this is no bad thing. If you're worried about time getting away from you, then the thing to do is work to a timetable. Of course there is nearly always room for improvement with any piece, but you have to move on eventually. Peers may be helpful in reassuring you.
Also sometimes it is better to do something else and come back to a particular section - you can then look at ti a bit more objectively or at least with a fresh perspective.

It took about 18 months (part time PhD) for my project to be settled, although up until I was well into writing up there were still potential changes in the research aspect.

Given that the project was your supervisor's idea and presumably you used his lab, then it doesn't seem unreasonable that he be first author. It all depends on the customs and ethics of the discipline.

The defence of the thesis shouldn't require any external aids, as far as I know.

In my case, my examiner has asserted that I am wrong about X and Y is the case. Having looked at the case he mentioned and other sources, I am convinced that X is the case. So I have stated that there is disagreement about X and Y, but I believe X is right and elaborated further why I believe this is so.
I'm hoping that's going to be OK, as I can't honestly say that I think Y is right at all.

You can refer to your thesis, and you can put markers for important references. You're not expected to remember the entire thesis!

My literature review was quite long, but my thesis was on an interdisciplinary topic.

Generally you have to respond positively to all of the reviewers comments - sometimes they want a change that totally alters the thrust of your article. Then it depends on the editor.
Plenty of articles don't even get to the revise and resubmit threshold, so you should persevere.

Anyone know if any of the citation software will work without a subscription? Currently using RefWorks via the university, but it's not working great for me and will be graduating soon and need something for my writing after that.
