what research methods are u peeps using to get data etc. My main source of data is questionnaires. Focus groups and itnerviews etcwill also be used. I was told today that this wasnt good enough. If i do a survey - how many people is it worth getting etc? What are u people doing? I am a bit confused and in a bit of a daze as to where this is all going...

i have a whole chapter where I am meant to talk about participation rates etc - basically go on about statistics. I am finding that between each graph i have a a 2 sentance discription of what it means and how it contributes to the story. I have a feeling this isnt enough. Have u got any tips to deal with tons of graphs... i hate chapters like this.

i sympathise with ur problem. I have one very expierienced supervisor that wud love to see me if she had the tiem (shes head of dept) and another one who gievs me far 2 much attention but the wrong advice (according to my first supervisor). Its got to teh point that when I wrote my report my first supervisor gets outraged by what i write and ask why i did it like that - to which my reply is - IF U LOOK AT MY PREVIOUS DRAFTS - I WILL SHOW U THAT I DID IT IN THE WAY THAT U SUGGESTED BUT THE OTHER ONE SAID NO!! I am getting really annoyed with it all now. i told my first supervisor she has to pay mroe attention to this project. She has agreed... thankfully. The otheroen will only be there in terms of support if i need it.

Maybe u need to get the most interested supervisor really interested so that they wud supervise u more adn make the other one realise what they are missing out on.

thanx for all ur support. They were nice to me in the viva. They took everything into account- supervision problems and the bereavement etc. They said that they wanted a bit more work on the report before they would sign me off. I am really annoyed but I think i expected it. Really angry. Thanksfor ur help.

my dads bro passed away last week - the funeral was yesterday bt I am still suffering from it all. I ahve my first year viva on thurs. My supervisors know about it all. I am finding it really ahrd to concentrate on everything and I dont care about the vivia... yet i do care if u get what I mean. Its driving me crazy. Anyone been in this situation? How did u deal with it?

Everyone who has a busy prof supervisor at my uni MUST have a second supervisor that isnt as busy. May be you could request a second supervisor?

any tips for working in this major hot weather... or have u all just given up?

if u say they are trying to get u to stay then can u not do something about it at the same unvirsity. I thnk u may have a chance to still make things work.

I am getting department scholarship. So they have to fund me i guess. I was just shocked when I told my supervisor that i made some industry contacts then I got an email asking if they could sponsor me instead. I dont understand...
