YEY. i went to see my head of school...aka my first supervisor. I told her everything!!!! She was sooooooo cooool!!!! She was annoyed at my other supervisor and was a bit shocked that she was like that.
Going to send her an email...copy it to head of school. Then take things on from there. She will talk to her... i know that my troublesome supervisor will blame it on me and i will look bad!!!!
Thats life and i am happy to risk it.

i did my undergrad in comp sci... but because my first supervisor convinced me to stay on... i decided to do a phd on this stuff. I was offered a techy job. AGHR.

thats the area that i am looking at.... i am focusing on how the image of computer science on young people effect their educational decisions - therefore leading up to career decisions. Basically looking at the fact that there are a lack of women looking to do a career in computng and how perceptions contribute to it.

hey... right i would really appreciate your opinion on somethign that my supervisor has asked me to do.
She feels that it is feasible to create a questionniare that is targeted from 8year olds until academics. We basically need somethign to find out their perceptions to education and how these perceptions have/will effect career choices.
I feel that we need 3 sets of questionnaires for students before and after university and those in somekind of established careers. My supervisor says that convienience of data is important.. so for example - grabbing a load and giving them out to anyone. I would rather have quality of data and a bit more regulated.. I just think its difficult to do one aimed at such a varied age group. What do you think? aND yes - we have discussed and argued about this - the woman is doing my head in.

that is exactly what i am planning on doing. I am going to have a separate meeting for her and me to discuss supervision issues. Even tho she got arsey with me...its soemthng that has got to be sorted. She just wants to show her authority.... she really isnt that important within the department.
NOW she wants my help on a project... and she wants me to do stuff on it for free...she says that it will help my project- but i will be spending alot of my time doing work for her.. i dont think this is normal. i feel i shud be paid for this - i told her and she said that i will be getting her attention during that time (which i dont want anyways) and an understanding of research methods.

i have just read the whole of this...i don't understand why you (sweetchic) feels that ann owes you an appology. At least she tried to help and what she said was pretty valid - she was giving an answer based on her experience. I belive you need to owe her an appology.

agrh I should be working!!! BUT I AM JUST SO RESTLESS. maybe a bailys will calm me down. i dotn knwo why i am stopping myself from working
