Just sat in front of my computer after taking the weekend off......

The time is 4:48 and I am getting ready to start!!!!!!

Well, my goal for today is to manage to sit down and write one section!!!!!!!!! It will be around 1500 words, but I know what I want to write, so it is doable (I think)..........................

I have seen PhD theses with chapters that have been published elsewhere. The writer just indicates that a version of this chapter has been published in.......

I don't know about the other question that you ask....but I guess it is not "wrong" to say that it is part of an ongoing PhD research. I don't think that it would look less professional....But this is only my view.........

I have 8 chapters (3.5 written and 2 started...)

My plan is:
Introduction: 5000
Literature review 1: 8000
Literature review 2: 8000
Methodology: 12000
Analysis 1: 13500
Analysis 2: 13500
Analysis 3: 13500
Conclusion/Discussion: 5000

Total:76500.....

My uni's guidelines are for up to 80000 words....

It has been a very productive day for me....

I managed to write a whole section of a chapter (1200 words)!!!!!!!

Now it is time to rest!!!!!!!

Hi all!

I got out of my "real" job a little earlier today, so I'm starting working on my PhD half an hour earlier!!!!!!!! (up)

So for today:

1) Break analysis chapters into sections
2) Break section into smaller pieces (so that it's easier to manage writing)
3) Write at least 2 pieces (= 600 words) (I have a deadline at Feb 20 to send a whole chapter that I haven't even started yet):p

Yestarday we had another meeting and I raised the issue with my sups....
They agreed that they gave my work to the other student as an example of good work (structure, content etc) but they told me that although it is of PhD standard (and of good standard), they believe that I can do it much much better.........

So, they told me something different than the other day.....

I know that many of you are or usually get frustrated with your supervisors.....
Well, it is my turn!!!!!! :p

I have to say that we get along reasonably well in general....

BUT, during our last meeting I became really upset...
I learned form another research student that they had given her a piece of my writing as a good example of writing. So far so good. I don't have a problem with that, although it would have been much better if they had asked me before giving it.
Then, when we had our meeting, they told me that that particular piece of writing was of really poor quality!
If it was of poor quality, then why had they preseneted it as an example of good writing??????????
And the other student is not telling me lies...I saw the piece, and "good" or "v. good" scribbled all over it.....

Shouldn't I be frustrated??????????? Arghhhhhh
