Hi everyone! Morning!
Wow, Snelison! I am impressed :-) I have never written so many words in such a short time. Keep it up (up)
Lindalou - That's wonderful! It is such a nice feeling to see whole of the thesis contents, isn't it :-)
I have been on this 4 day course until Saturday because of which I couldn't do much. I did keep an eye on my simulations which seem to run ok. The course was nice, learnt a lot and networked as well which is good. I don't know what I need to do today. Perhaps I will start with:
Goal 1 - Check simulations.
Have a good day!

Hi all, Morning!
I had a relaxed start this morning after a long time (@ 9.30 am) :-) What a beautiful day today! (robin) Today's goals:
Goal 1 - Check simulations (they are still running) - DONE.
Goal 2 - Find out the information which an ex-colleague wants me to retrieve.
Goal 3 - Troubleshoot new code installation.
Goal 4 - Attend the course (13:30-17:00).
I will be back at my office to do some work after the course. Have a nice day everyone!
P.S: Snelison, I watched the youtube video which you posted, its hilariously brilliant! 8-)
Hi Snelison, I am glad to hear from you :-) Oh dear! I know what exactly you mean by getting distracted by mere beings like 'fb', 'twitter', and 'youtube'. I don't use twitter though. I hate the 'related links' option of 'youtube', one can spend hours watching rubbish! I hope your writing is going on well. I wish I was as productive since the start, looking back the number of days I spent producing nothing but entropy is far more than the number of productive days. In all these years I have learnt 'how not to do research' rather than 'how to do research' ;-)
Goal 6 - Print course schedule (I am going on a course tomorrow for 4 days which will be helpful for my career) - DONE.
Goal 7 - Find bus route to the course venue -DONE.
Goal 8 - Sort the results which I got yesterday - NOT DONE (will do it hopefully tomorrow).
Goal 9 - Replot some graphs of Chapter 4 - DONE (90%).
Goal 10 - Go for a walk - DONE :-)
I am happy with my achievements for today, I could have done more (slacked for an hour or so). I am winding up for today, have a good night everyone!

Mmmm...It seems like no one is around today. I have been having issues accessing this site, I don't know if it was just me. I couldn't do the final list of things of yesterday as I was totally knackered. I did those this morning. Anyway I have done these so far:
Goal 1 - Make notes for today's meeting with primary supervisor - DONE.
Goal 2 - Read an article that I printed - DONE.
Goal 3 - Find out values of a model to discuss with supervisor tomorrow - DONE.
Goal 4 - Meet supervisor - DONE.
Goal 5 - Check simulations - DONE.
I had a good discussion with my supervisor, we spoke about some of the assumptions we have and about what we know and what we don't. It was quite interesting. I have quite some time before I leave home, so will be doing the following now:
Goal 6 - Print course schedule (I am going on a course tomorrow for 4 days which will be helpful for my career).
Goal 7 - Find bus route to the course venue.
Goal 8 - Sort the results which I got yesterday.
Goal 9 - Replot some graphs of Chapter 4.
Phewwww!!!! I am done with all of my goals.
Goal 4 - Verify results of simulations - DONE.
Goal 5 - Redraw some plots of chapter 4 - DONE.
I am off to home, have a bus to catch in 15 min, got to cook, eat, watch some tele and get on with goals 6-8 hopefully :-)
Goal 6 - Make notes for tomorrow's meeting with primary supervisor.
Goal 7 - Read an article that I printed.
Goal 8 - Find out values of a model to discuss with supervisor tomorrow.
Hope everyone had a good day. Catch you all tomorrow :-)
How is it going for everyone? I have now completed the listed goals. So, I am going to start couple of other things which I can hopefully get done today.
Goal 1 - Finalise the second draft of chapter 1 and email it to supervisors - DONE.
Goal 2 - Put in the results of the simulations together - DONE.
Goal 3 - Troubleshoot and launch new simulations - DONE.
Goal 4 - Verify results of simulations.
Goal 5 - Redraw some plots of chapter 4.
Hello everyone!
Morning!
Oh wow!!! That's great, Batfink. I felt the same way when I sent off the first draft of all my chapters couple of weeks back :-)
Clementine, I hope you managed to finish you chapter and how are you feeling today?
I managed to start early today too, worked a bit yesterday but not much over the week end though. I have completed the second draft of my introduction chapter including primary supervisors comments and email him and my secondary supervisor (haven't got corrections back from him yet) just now. I have edit bits of the conclusions chapter which I think I will keep for later when I have the second draft of all the chapters ready.
Goal 1 - Finalise the second draft of chapter 1 and email it to supervisors - DONE.
Goal 2 - Put in the results of the simulations together.
I will finish goal 2 and move on the the rest. Have a productive day and week ahead everyone! (up)
Hi everyone!
Batfink - That's wonderful! I am very pleased for you (gift)
Lindalou - You have been doing great with your corrections :-) Keep it up!
Clementine - Well done on achieving your goals and good luck for today (up)
I had a bad day yesterday, I started with the conclusions chapter, was trying to make the corrections but I didn't know where to start or how to write it. I then went on to the introduction chapter and edited most of it, just need to do a final polish. But somehow I am feeling very very tired physically and mentally. I am supposed to be working today, but I am still in the bed hiding in my room not wanting to face the real world outside! Sorry for the rant people. I am going to gather myself up and go and have a shower, then go to work. Hopefully I will feel better.
Good morning everyone!
I managed to have an early start today, have quite a few goals for today:
1. Combine simulation 2.
2. Edit the rest of the introduction chapter.
3. Edit the conclusions chapter.
4. Launch simulation 3 later in the evening.
If I complete all these 4 then I will see if I can work on couple of other things. Have a wonderful day!
Lindalou - That's wonderful! You still have plenty of time to fine tune your thesis which is great (up) I wish I was as organised and systematic as you are :-(
I have been at work for more than 12 hours now and have completed all my goals except 3 (silly me, later in the day I realised that I had left the print outs with my supervisors comments on them at home) and half of 2 (did all the easy corrections and fine tuning). I have half an hour to catch my bus and an hour long travel in the bus to go home, eat, watch something on my laptop while eating and to hit my bed! Yet another productive day which I am happy about :-)
Good night and sleep tight everyone! :-x
Batfink - Bravo! You must be relieved and good luck with your rehearsal! Do you do it front of a mirror? ;-)
Lindalou - It is going on good so far, thanks for asking! I hope your meeting was good. How long do you have until submission if I may ask? Have you decided on a date? Perhaps it is better to start with easy ones :-)
I am liking it to be an early bird too (I have been a nocturnal for ages - almost 6 years) ;-) I have done 1 and started 2 just now. I don't know where to start like you Lindalou, so I am going to start with the straight forward corrections and work it up from there. There is a lunch time lecture for an hour in between, so will see how much I can get done today.

Hi everyone!
Batfink - I started at 9 am, which is early for me considering the fact that I used to start around 11 ish few months before :-) I agree, no panicking any more. Let us fight! Don't worry about not finishing the presentation yesterday, you have been working hard consistently for such a long time - you are only human, so don't be too hard on yourself. There are only 24 hours in a day and we can work only so many hours :-) Keep going, you will get a wonderful piece of presentation at the end when you are done!
Lindalou - Oh dear! I exactly know what you mean :-) We will get there eventually and hopefully can have a life thereafter! It is only matter of months now :-) Good luck with your amendments and supervisory meeting!
So, finally one set of my simulations are working, I have got other sets of simulations to test - have got quite a few to run. Oh well! I will keep going. So, for today:
1. Combine the results of yesterday's simulation.
2. Edit introduction chapter.
3. Edit conclusions chapter.
4. Email supervisors about one of the findings which needs clarification.
5. Launch simulations later in the evening.
This might take the whole day (it is going to be a long one again...sigh!!!!) Have a wonderful day everyone! Gosh...it is supposed to be summer. Where is the SUN???? :-s
Hi folks,
Lindalou - That's great! You seem to be in the swing and keep it up :-)
Batfink - How is the presentation shaping up? It is nice you can get it done in an hour and relax. Well done!
I am still at work, have managed to finish my goals except 3 but did three other things which I didn't list this morning. I was panicking since morning but I seem to have cooled down now. I have to catch a bus in an hour, luckily I have cooked food for the next couple of days already ;-) I can go home, eat and hit the bed straight away so that I can have an early start and late finish tomorrow too. Life is so much fun! :-D

Hi everyone!
Batfink - I am sorry you are struggling, perhaps it is better to focus on the presentation (as you have the conference in a week) and request your supervisors for more time to submit your draft. I am sure they will understand. Good luck (up)
I checked my calculations yesterday and was troubleshooting most of the day, didn't get a lot of useful work done though. I have got comments back from my primary supervisor on the Introduction and Conclusions chapters and I need to do a lot of editing. He said not to worry as I have enough time until submission but I don't really know how this is all going to end. Today's goals:
1. Make a list of every day goals until the end of this month.
2. Work on calculations.
3. Troubleshoot simulations.
Have a nice day everyone!
Oh dear Batfink, you do have quite a lot on your plate. Don't be too hard on yourself and tackle one thing at a time and you will get there.
Lindalou - Well done on finishing the amendments. A big pat on your back!
I seem to get nowhere with my simulations. I have few problems lined up as soon as I fix one and this is so frustrating! I have no idea what I am going to do with them :-( I had submitted the first draft of all my chapters on Friday last week which is a relief but I am waiting for my comments and don't have how much more editing I have got to do. It doesn't seem like it is going to ever end!
