I much prefer the theory about that Lamington governor bloke dropping a cake/bread roll/whatever into some gravy/soup/whatever and then throwing it over his shoulder into coconut/bread crumbs/whatever and thus inspiring a watching baker woman into creating the Lamington cake. Such a unlikely tale it just has to be true!
