Thanks. I deliberately 'hid' my news here rather than make a new thread because I'm still afraid of someone identifying me at this late stage and digging up some old posts I've since realised though that, if this thread lasts as long as I hope it does, it will be around much longer than any "I, (insert name), passed my viva on dd.mm.yy" post!! I really wanted to post before, on and after the day but didn't feel that I could. Oh well. I got through it. Afterwards I also thought of changing my username to "drsuess" (deliberately misspelt) and waiting to see if anyone caught on but I've become quite attached to my simple 'sue'...

Chris, I'll take that as a congratulations With all the spare time I've had (looming corrections aside) I've been reading a pretty amazing book on animal behaviour that I think would be right up your street - King Solomon's Ring by Konrad Lorenz. Maybe you've already read it. Lots of anecdotes about talking birds and the like. (bird)
