Anthropologa, well done for still doing the 15mins of writing, even though you dont have access to a computer. i find sometimes writing by hand is a refreshing change!
and you most definately should take the night off! have fun! sounds really cool
are gallery opening eh, coooooooooooool have fun
Good morning all! Buen fin de semana!
I'm headed to the hospital this AM for some research, but I'll be able to get my computer back and spend much of the afternoon writing field notes.
Today's goals are:
1) 1 field note entry
2) NS Report - 1 part
See you all later!
Hello folks! erm didn't accomplish any of my new aims for the evening shift last night. oooops.
anyways bygones, yesterday is in the past, like JB says, don't cry over unwritten words in the past. today is all that matters.
Todays aims:
chapter 5:
1. results
2. introduction
3. discussion
good luck to everyone who are working on a saturday!
i never meet my aims! i think i am being wayyyyyyyyy too unrealistic! lol
i have no idea how to set realistic goals. i just spent approximately 6 hours working on my results section for one of my chapters, and i have noway finished. i have done approximately 6 pages worth (double space!) and made 5 figures/tables.
my realistic goal for the rest of the day is to complete
results section of chapter 5.
taking a break now to have some dinner.
it just takes a very long time, writing, organising results, making tables and figures, thinking about what it all means. more time then i anticipate.
hello all! Right so I have foregone any saturday evening merriment and am here trying to kick the ass of my paper to get it done! Well get a good first draft done! Something able to be handed in cos i need to get something in!!!!
Good luck to my fellow hard workers tonight!!!!
x
Hi all!
I'd like to join the general encouragement and ass-kicking
I'm doing the dissertation on an MSc Information and Library Management.
I've got all kinds of rough drafts but just have to get on with the actual reasearch project and do the analysis and write up - all by November 28th!
I intend to join your 15mins per day group tomorrow morning. I read Bolker, of course... I will post my to-do list tomorrow, right after I sort out my financial issues
Welcome Hopwood! Happy to have you join.
And good luck to all of us working this weekend. I know what you mean about unrealistic expectations, Lara. Do you have any ideas for a different approach you might try?
I must report that yesterday was a wash. . . sorry group. I don't even have a good excuse. I had most of the afternoon free, but I just felt STUCK in place. I didn't do anything productive - but I didn't do anything fun either!
I'll be back online with a bit, and put some clarity to today's goals. See you all soon!
a big congratulations to liminalplace for staying up until 5.30am!! and getting her conference paper done ! WELL DONE!!!!!

*****confession time****
yesterday: well uh, i never did come back for the evening shift, naughty me. after spending 6 hours working on chapter 5 during the day. i took a break, rode my bike for 15mins, i had not done any exercise for over a month and then took a shower, had dinner, and relaxed and watched "medium" dvd and then it was around midnight and was way too tired and went to bed! oh well. lol
----
********confession for today*********
i have done zip zata zilch. although i sent a "work" email to a collegue of mine asking her a few qs i have about my chapter 5, if that counts for anything lol.
spent most of the day with family, it's sunday which usually means "family/sunday lunch" day. spent some time in the garden aswell which was nice and relaxing. its really hard for me to study on a sunday or the weekend for that matter! hehe.
now its nearly 8pm. so i figured i will do 1 hour of productive work, and then treat myself to watch "supernatural" on telly. last finale episode!
aims for tonight:
1. finish results section of chapter 5.
---
Anthropologa, yeh I have no idea how to set realistic goals. because i don't know how long something is going to take. so i think because i only have one week left now, to do as much of my thesis as possible. i think i will try to do "productive" time. i.e do a X number of hours of where i am working on my thesis. and then take the evening off or something.
so tommorow, i am going to clock my time and see how many hours i am actually working "productively" .. and then that will be my time set for the rest of the week. basically going to glue myself to the seat tommorow.
and a warm welcome to the newest recruit !! Hopwood, welcome welcome!!
------
Anthropologa, don't be so hard on yourself, sometimes when your stuck as i was a few days ago, just leave it and do something else. there will be times when we will feel stuck. and you've been working so hard this week, you really ought to take some time out and take a break! you deserve it
hello folks! anyone else up at this ungodly hour? burning the midnight oil, or 2am oil as it is now. i am feeling tired and sleepy, but i am forcing myself to work until 3.30am. i have glued myself to my chair.
today: i worked from 8pm-9pm, then took a break to watch supernatural
then came back to my computer, after midnight, worked so far , for about an hour and half i think. not sure losing track of time. feel like i am in the twilight zone.
so far today in total i have done:
553 words
1 table
1 figure
okay 2 min break over, back to work.
Morning everyone, feeling a little better this morning so going to try and get back on the saddle again so to speak!
Aims of the day
1. finish chapter 1
2. email re lab results
3. sort out other lab results and post
4. sort out my annoying maternity leave!
Hope everyone has a productive day! I'll check in later!
