Hey Girls!!
Angie. thanks so much. and i sympathesise with having to do read a boring book! cant be easy. maybe tell yourself you *only* have to read for 15minutes, and you can then take a couple of minutes break and do something you do enjoy. or i read in dale carenegies book try to make it interesting somehow have a competion with yourself. see how many notes you can make in 15minutes and how pieces of information you can understand, and then try to *beat* the record next time. or he suggests *pretend* its interesting and your enjoying reading it. apparently acting, can sometimes fool yourself. try it. i am going to try it today aswell. lol
TG - enjoy Mamma mia!
i know what you mean about panicking, i do that ALOT. and freeze and cant do anything.
glad you like the mindmap! its so much fun.
also i suggest maybe allocate yourself a "worry" time. say around 9pm, and anytime during the day you start to stress or panic, tell yourself STOP and remind yourself you can "worry" at the designated time, for 15minutes.. and also it really helps to write things down that worry you. the actual act of writing it out, helps it to stop going around in your head. so if you start to panic. write what is making you panic., and then tell yourself you can then "worry" about it at the designated time.
also feel free to log on here, at 9pm or whatever time at the end of the day and list all the things that worry you. it doesnt matter if everyday its the same thing that worries you. what matters is that you write it down and it then has less power over you.
I woke up at 5am, and forced myself to stay up!! but i bribed myself that i could watch 10minutes of an episode of criminal minds (my favourite show) and now i am going to do an hour work and then rest for 10minutes.
my aim:
1. describe cluster analysis for 16 patients.
2. set a deadline for aim 1. 8.00am. if i don't get it finished *tough* i have to move onto a new aim.
3. take a 10minute break *away from my desk* for every hour i am sat at my desk.
4. take a nap sometime between 12pm-3pm.
5. work in 15minute bursts and take a 2 minute break.
6. *pretend/act* that i am enjoying my work and that it is interesting
7. think of one thing that i am grateful for.
8. my "worry" time is scheduled for 10pm-10.15pm - anytime i start to worry i will tell myself STOP and focus back at the task at hand
9. check email at 10pm. and not at all before then.
morning all sounds like you have all been working hard yesterday. Good job on the schedule for today Lara - sounds good. TG Mamma Mia is brill - just what is needed after so much phd stress. And hi Angie welcome to the madness- its a matter of battling through we will all get there.
Had my antenatal class again last night - now starting to get a bit scared about the birth! But then I want my baby here so i will have to get over it. Builders are workign away next door and driving me mad!!! To much drilling and sawing!
Anyway I got most of my aim done yesterday but not quite finished so today:
1. Finish text from esterday
2. Sort notes from other books for this chapter
Hi all!!
Well done Lara for getting up so early! That is really brilliant, good for you. Hope your morning is going well, and thanks for the advice about setting a "worry time". You are right and i am defintely going to give it a try today. Thanks ever so much again, you are a star!!
Celesmai: Hope you are ok, you must be getting really excited now about the appearance of your little bundle of joy! Glad the antenatal class went well. hope the builders don't disturb you too much.
Angie81: Hope your day is going well, and that the reading is not quite as boring today!! I fully understand what you mean!!!
Ok, aims for today:
Reading and making notes/ideas to put into chapter 7. Finish this preparation today so i can start writing the chapter tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone!!!
Hi all,
Aims also met, tomorrow i am going to start the writing........
Hope everyone had a good day, now off to see Mamma mia!!!!
See you tomorrow!
Aim for tomorrow
Wake up 9-9.30ish. And start drafting an email i need to send my sup telling him exactly what i have researching for the past month- its going to be quite detailed.
I do hope to finish around 7pm so i can go to watch the movies and watch Batman Begins as a treat!!
Right now- will read until 2am as i have done hardly anything all day.
hi everyone! TG hope mamma mia was fun, and congratulations on meeting your aims!
and celesmai well done to you too!
you both are doing so well! meeting your aims. well done both of you.

well as usual i didnt meet my aims.
i am going to try a different approach and look at how many hours i can clock in - working "actively and productively" on my thesis.
total productive time today = 3 hours and 15minutes.
tommorow i am going to aim to clock in more hours. and try to beat my record today.
i had my first "worry schedule" scheduled at 9.00pm - 9.30pm. my biggest fear is that i wont get my thesis completed and time will run out.
and i am worried that i can't seem to clock in more hours. a collegue once told me she used to work 12 hours a day everyday when she wrote her thesis in a couple of months! i dont know how she did that. she told me she basically worked from 10am - 10pm.
i wish i was a robot lol and didnt get tired or bored or panicked.
Hi Everyone!!!
Hope everyone is ok and that we all have a good day today.
Celemai: You were right!! Mamma Mia was fab!!! Really enjoyed it!! Hope your day is ok today with less noise from the builders.
Lara: I understand completely what you mean about worrying the thesis won't get finished and that we don't have enough time. I feel like this aswell!! But we have all worked so hard so far and we can only do our best. Try not to worry, i am looking at little bits at a time and it is surprising how much in a week you build up the thesis! I know we don't have long left but we do have enough time to get it finished!! Promise!!!!!! You will get there, you are working so hard.
Also as for the 12 hour working, i am amazed by people who can do that, i definitely can't!!!!!!!! I try but just can't do it, I think everyone is different.
Realistically i can do 4-6 hours but when it is tough my limit sometimes is only 1-3 hrs. But i think a lot of people are like this and not many can do 12 hours straight!!!! Try not too worry as you are doing so well. Working on your thesis even for a little bit each day is all progress, and you will get there!!
Angie81 and Lara: Definitely go and see Batman, my cinema trip last night has done the world of good. A couple of hours where you can escape and just watch a good film!!! You deserve a break and i have heard it is a brilliant film, am going to see it too in a few weeks!
Anyway hope everyone has a great day!
My aims today: Work on chapter 7, start drafting it on the computer. Need to hand it on Monday so today i think is going to be a long day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed i can get a lot done!!!!!! (hopefully!)
