First goal is done. I still have to do a lot of detailed transcription so my next goal is to get 5 pieces done.
Urgh, its later this week, but I have to travel up today. I'm feeling so disorganised! I'm only just finishing the slides today and still haven't packed!
I got 2 pieces of transcription done- they turned out to be really long. I can't bear to do any more. My next goal is to skim over some literature I read at an earlier point which is particularly relevant for where I'm at with my analysis and to write a quick summary.
Afternoon everyone. I went onto campus this morning to do some admin type bits. Half of it was a waste of time though- meeting about teaching cancelled due to sickness, research student office where I needed to go also closed due to sickness. Argh.
My goal this afternoon is to make a good start on a new analysis.
Morning all. It has been quiet on this thread recently!
Today my major goal is redrafting my chapter. I'll break this down and my first goal is to work on the first analysis section.
Hi there Moonblue. I hope you're getting on with things OK today!
I finally finished my first goal (it took ages because I had an extended lunch break due to a doctor's appointment). My brain feels like mush but I am actually starting to feel really happy with what I've written. I think I'm done with writing today though.
I have a book chapter to read so this is my next goal.
Argh the redrafting of my introduction is turning out to be more work than I thought because there are a couple of areas of literature I should include but haven't done yet. Spent the morning outlining relevant philosophical and linguistic work. My goal for this afternoon after lunch is to outline relevant sociolinguistic work.
Morning all. Is anyone going to be joining me on this thread today?
I have my panel review tomorrow so my goal for this morning is to have a read through my report and to prepare.
yep I'll join you :-) I'm back from the conference I went to last week and raring to go (after a cup of tea and a 'second breakfast' - perhaps a slice of toast)
My goal 1 for today: make changes to journal article
Goal 2 which should be conducted simultaneously to goal 1: check format that the journal requires.
Hi there Sneaks, did your presentation go well?
I've read through my report and I'm fairly confident about my meeting tomorrow, so that is my first goal done. Next (after popping out to drop something off at the doctor's) I need to write an outline of relevant sociolinguistic work, which I was supposed to do on Friday but didn't.
well done on the 1st goal! I've done goal 2, doing goal 1, finding it hard to concentrate on it for longer than 5 mins at a time.
Presentation did go well and I managed to bat away a difficult PhD student, who was clearly trying to prove himself in front of his sup who was there and/or trying to show himself as alpha male in the group - he questioned my hypotheses, so I slowly and clearly stated why I had chosen them and made him look like a primary school kid hehe.
I'm also finding it difficult to concentrate and feel like I am getting nowhere with my introduction section. It'll also be easier when I'm in the library tomorrow as I'm finding I can't get hold of any articles I need online, so I will come back to it tomorrow.
My next goal is to work on a fresh analysis and not to give up work for the day until I've actually done a full day.
