My first goal is done. I don't believe it took me so long. Its almost lunch time and all I've done is send a couple of emails (well, with a lot of work on the extracts).
My second goal is one which I started last week which is to pull out things which may be relevant for me from a particular area of literature.
My second goal is done and also took me ages. :-s
My final goal for today is to get at least 3 pieces of transcription done by 6pm.
Goal 1 and goal 3 done, goal 2 partly done. Hmm, maybe I was a little over-ambitious about what I could achieve in one day today! Oh well, hopefully I can get a good load more of goal 2 done before my brain stops working.
yesterday was a bit rubbish. I'm also late getting started today, because I've gone for a 45 min dog walk, then did 30 mins on my treadmill, then had a shower, then I had to handwash a load of clothes as my washing machine broke yesterday and 'the man' isn't coming out until monday :-(
Goal 1: finish table in paper with quotes.
Handwashing clothes :-(
I am also late getting started today because I had an hour to work at home but this was taken up with technical problems so I didn't manage to do anything. I then had a doctors appointment (they syringed my ears and I can now hear properly again, its amazing!) and have only just got onto campus.
I now have just over an hour before a meeting with my research group. Before then my first goal is to look over my chapter to get an idea of what I need to do on it this afternoon and my second goal is to do one piece of transcription.
I have done 2 tomatoes :-) first time I've used that for AGES. I'm now going to go and have my elevenses (tea and a biscuit) and start back again ASAP. I feel quite energised, but knackered at the same time if that makes sense, from the jogging this morning.
Hi everyone!
As you may or may not have noticed I haven't been posting for a while. I finished my MA a couple of weeks ago so have been away on holiday and have been wedding planning. But I've just registered for my PhD so I'm back to it now! Feeling sort of excited but sort of nervous about it all. Anyway, I've decided that I will officially start working on Monday, as I have a couple of meetings to go to this week, including first meeting with sup, and also lots of forms to fill in. However I've still got a few goals for today;
Goal 1- go through all info got at welcome meeting and put key dates in diary!
Goal 2- sort parking etc
Goal 3- prep for meeting with sup
ooh hope the holiday was nice Button. Have you got anything left to arrange for the wedding? I've had to pull myself off a wedding forum recently, because I was addicted to it (even though I got married last year!)
Oh gawd, I've just realised I have non-PhD work that is due to hand to someone TODAY!
Goal: Do this work before eating lunch
Gah, you've reminded me of non-PhD work I need to do as well - not due till Monday though so it can wait a little while.
I've made great progress this morning, sending some emails, planning out some of the survey stuff that was worrying me and skim-reading five journal articles to pull out bits relevant to my study design. I have a seminar to go to in an hour, but should be able to skim-read a couple more journal articles before then.
Yay, I finally feel like I'm actually getting some work done! Feels like I spent the whole of September just not achieving anything at all.
I realised earlier that due to my technical problems (which I resolved by formatting my pen drive) I didn't have the work I was planning on doing today on my pen drive. Doh.
However I just had a really inspiring meeting and my next goal is to look through my data for further examples of something which came up today.
Remember how I said that I'd taken the dog for a walk, went on my treadmill and had a shower, and was at my desk by about 10??
MY HAIR STILL ISN'T DRY!!!
I know its long and thick, but seriously. I need to find my hairdryer (haven't used it for about 7 years!)
Today is going to be an ultra productive day....
Goal 1 - continue pulling out relevant bits from literature for design of survey
Goal 2 - Start looking at measuring devices
Goal 3 - Plan out process for designing the study
Well I've done Goal 1 which was to compare the meerkat/market and see if my car insurance can be lower. I got confused with confused.com and have decided to let hubby work it all out. How am I supposed to know how many miles I've driven!? I have NO idea how to check that on the car.
Goal 2: Check emails, I know there's one from sup in there, so reply to that and change paper accordingly.
