The One Goal Thread

S

I have supervision at 10 so my first goal is to spend the next 20 minutes looking over my data for examples of a particular phenomena. I'm really struggling with it though so it's good that I have supervision today!

After a lot of faffing about with a Word table, Goal 2 is complete.

Goal 3: do that non-Phd work that was supposed to be sent yesterday :$

S

Goal 1 and supervision done. My next goal is to prepare some multiple choice questions for a stats class I'm teaching on Monday. I'll probably forget about it if I don't get it done now. I aim not to let this take me any longer than an hour.

Bored of doing goal one now. Maybe I'll move onto goal two.

S

Multiple choice questions prepared (which took me a little longer than I'd have liked) and I've had lunch.

My next goal is to continue searching through my data for examples of a particular phenomena.

I haven't done the work, but I have gone out to post the very important envelope related to the work, return a library book and I've had lunch. I've also had an invite to an interview which has thrown me. Its requiring a presentation on how I will contribute to teaching and research at university X.
WHat do you do in this type of presentation? - I'm not sure, I'll have a formal interview afterwards, so don't want to run out of things to say in that! Confused.

S

Second goal is done (for now). My final goal for today is to spend the next couple of hours working on a fresh analysis.

Sorry I can't be of any help with the presentation and interview thing Sneaks, as I haven't even thought about applying for jobs yet, never mind how I would go about preparing for interviews and things!

late to the desk again today, after dog walk and treadmill and having to take hubby to the station twice because he forgot his train ticket the first time and had to miss the first train :-s

Goal 1: do non-PhD work!!!

Z

Does anyone else read through lots of journals to try and clarify your ideas on topic and then become even more confused? :) I always do that and just when am at the point that think am never going to find focus, things start to become a bit clearer. So now that have bit of clarity am going to:
1) Identify clear definitions and available measures for concepts
2) Write about 2000 words
3) Not watch "This Morning"

Goal 1: Done :-) how come I can actually get non-PhD work done, but never my PhD work :-(

Goal 2: have lunch.

S

Goal 1: Finish reading and taking notes on Article 1.

Goal 2: Read and make notes on Article 2.

Goal 2: Done :-) nutella on toast.

Goal 3: plan out presentation

Hi all,

Last night I went to a postgrad meetup at the pub, had a few too many shandies, got home late and had to be up early to go to a staff development course all morning.

I'm now rather tired and can't face getting started on PhD work today so my goal for the afternoon is to prepare materials for the next 3 classes I'm teaching.

Z

2000 words - done (although have included references in word count :) ). Have a good weekend!

Urgh my supervisor has just asked me to submit to a conference - but it will cost me about £600 to go and my funding has run out. I have no idea where she thinks I'm going to magic up this money from?? so I've had to embarrassingly admit to her I can't afford it. :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$
