Wow I don't believe your heating still isn't fixed! That's terrible.
I am done with my application forms for now (still one section which needs doing, but need to look over some stuff which is at home before doing this).
My next goal is to spend until 3.30 starting a conclusion for my chapter (the conclusion is my favourite bit to write because it means the end is in sight!). Then I'll pop into the library before going to the gym.
Yeah, it's now been nine weeks since I first reported problems with the heating. Nine weeks!! But I just phoned them and they promise me that a plumber will be phoning me shortly to arrange a time to replace all my radiators. Coincidentally, this is after I wrote to them saying I'd taken legal advice and giving them two weeks to complete the repairs before I would take further action... wonder if that has anything to do with their sudden helpfulness? :p
So now I have no excuses, I have to get on with my work! But I just can't get motivated. Everything looks impossible.
That is AWFUL batfink! I'd be wanting my rent back - but I know how difficult that all is :-(
I'm struggling today. My head feels foggy but I have to sort this data out.
Next Goal: add data to data set and recode
Morning all,
I did actually do all my goals yesterday which is good. My first couple of goals are;
- plan lit review (or at least get something on paper to show sup I've actually done something for the past two weeks!)
- go through Endnote for journals to read regarding topics 1, 2 and 3
- start reading journals regarding topic 1
Morning all, managed to edit just 300 words last night, pretty poor effort! So I have lost 1000 of 7000 so just 6000 to lose, haha. However I did manage to include 9 appendices of published work into the thesis. The journals supply the finals in pdf which is a nightmare to include into Word. Each one had to be uploaded to a convertion programme to change into jpeg. Then the converted files were downloaded and each individual page inserted into the thesis, arghh! At least this is now done. The structure of the thesis is really starting to show now, yeah!
So today/evening I am going to re-read more of the thesis and edit out some more words...........yawn, I have lost motivation.
urgh I didn't get much work done yesterday. Mainly not helped by the fact that the only room that is warm and stays warm (therefore saving £££ on heating) is the living room - and I've been heating it with the tv being on :$
But its only data stuff - no 'thinking' as such so I have no excuse.
Goal 1: reverse code scoring.
Perhaps the cold weather is making us all sluggish lol. I am nice and warm as we had the boiler replaced 4 weeks ago, how fab was that timing! My excuse is a foggy head...........:-(
Hope your feeling toastie soon sneaks. Could do some baking that way you have oven heat in the kitchen and cakes to graze on while studying!
oh I have a fully working heating system, but for some reason when I sit in my home office - the heat just disappears so the boiler is on all day. If I sit in the living room the boiler is off most of the time becuase the room keeps the heat in - so is cheaper. I'm now watching the wright stuff :$

Right, my goals today are:
1. Spend a good chunk of time sorting out the analysis section of my chapter.- DONE
2. Add some more stuff to my research proposal.- Half done. I am completely stuck on writing a timetable (I am thinking of making out like I am going to write a book if awarded a 3 year postdoc prize, as if) so will wait and ask my supervisor for advice on Thursday.
3. Finish filling out application forms.
4. Do a small task which my supervisor asked me to do before our meeting on Thursday.
All that talk of warmth just makes me jealous! :$ But I'm told my new radiators have now been ordered - the legal threats seem to have worked! (Touching wood, quickly.) Today I'm toasty and warm on campus. Though it did take three hours to get here instead of the usual hour, because of three cancelled trains and a severely delayed train - almost two hours standing on station platforms in minus 10 degrees did not make me happy! Grrrr. Roll on summer!
Anyway, goals:
1.) Go to supervision meeting - DONE
2.) Write up notes from supervision meeting - almost done
3.) Get home before the trains are all cancelled!! - will do in about an hour!
My supervisors were really sweet to me today, very concerned about how ill I've been and telling me I shouldn't do too much between now and Christmas and should take at least a week completely off work over the holiday. Awww, they are lovely!
Batfink you poor thing, it doesn't sound like you've had much luck recently! Keep on at your lettings agency- I rang mine every day, sometimes three times a day, when our heater stopped working! Make sure you take your sups advice and have some proper time off!
Thanks Button! I'm hopeful that they're telling the truth when they say they're just waiting for my new radiators to arrive! And my supervisors did comment that I tend to just keep powering away at the work so maybe I am too hard on myself and need to give myself a little more time off.
Goal 2 done, going to do half an hour of literature searching on a very specific topic, then get home before the trains freeze to a complete halt.
