I'm supposed to be in a day-long seminar today, but am so far behind on reworking my questionnaire that I think I'll only go for this morning (so I can hear the keynote speaker who was my sole reason for signing up for the seminar!). So I have until 10 am to get as much done as I can, and then hopefully I'll be able to sneak away from the seminar at lunch time.
How was your seminar yesterday Batfink?
I woke up early because I heard what must have been the cat running around at 6.15 but in my confused state thought it might have been the postman delivering my Irregular Choice boots so I got up to check. Oh well!
My goal for this morning is to go back to redrafting my data chapter and tackle the section I left until last because it seemed the most difficult.
Ha, cats are great for that kind of confusion!
The seminar was great, actually - the keynote speaker was a retired professor from overseas who explained the major theory he developed in the 1970s and has revised continually since, in such a clear and straightforward and entertaining way that I saw new ways it could relate to my own work. And then I got some of the nice buffet lunch before clearing off and working on my questionnaire all afternoon! Made good progress too.
Not got much left to do on the questionnaire now - if I really push it I might be able to finish it today. I need to get it sent out to my next lot of pilot respondents before the bank holidays so tomorrow morning is really the very latest I can send it. (Yikes, that just panicked me - today would be better but might not be do-able.)
i haven't been on here for ages :$ I've had a weird few weeks. I'm now worried the whole easter/wedding thing is going to upset my work pattern again :-(
anyway, last few days has been motivating -hubs has passed his viva with minor corrections, so that just leaves me to get on with mine. I have a ton of half-finished chapters and have no idea where to start really. Maybe I should try and finish chapter 1?? I'm really not in the mood today!
Ooh, congrats to your hubs! Hope that inspires you into finishing.... difficult when it's so sunny and lovely-looking outside!
I've made good progress on the questionnaire. Just one section of editing left, and then adding the latest changes to the online version and proof reading. Unfortunately, the one section is one I've been putting off because I don't quite know how to reword the questions! Time to go back to my notes I think.
I don't think he enjoyed the experience but its down now! I don't think it was a harsh grilling by any means, but equally wasn't a walk in the park. He's got about 5-10 bullet points e.g. typos, clarifications etc. that need to be done, and then obviously he needs to pay his £1k in fees :-(
Welcome back Sneaks, I wondered where you'd got to!
I too am not in the mood today unfortunately... I have got halfway through redrafting the stuff I wrote yesterday and I am feeling really sick of it. I'm tempted just to stop for the day but I am going to write 200-300 words on the final topic that I need to start from scratch before calling it a day.
I've done F all today. gah! I've planned out my intro chapter, which was pretty much planned out already and got a few things straight (almost) in my head but can't settle into work and I know by the time I do it will be time to go to dinner (having meal out for hubs' pass celebrations)
I've spent the last 2 hours trying to think of a good first line for the whole thesis i.e. the first line of chapter one. I can't think of anything! apart from 'it is a truth universally acknowledged..." but don't think I'll get away with that!
