First goal done. Although the document is still so, so rough. My final goal is to go back to the body of literature that was giving me a headache yesterday before finishing early to head out to the pub (not been to the pub on a Friday for aaaaages).
The pub is a very good plan, star-shaped, everyone should try to do that on a Friday!
Re the teaching - how long have you been doing it for? I started doing some teaching about five years ago and hated it at first, found it really difficult and awkward and just not my thing at all. But since then I've got more confident at it, and as my confidence has increased I've started to find I enjoy it a lot more than at first, and can get real pleasure out of seeing my students grasp what I'm teaching them. It took a while though, and I'll admit it's still not my favourite thing but it's not unpleasant any more, so if you are just starting out, don't see initial dislike of teaching as a reason to give up on working in academia - you might get past that stage. (Or you might not, of course, only you know how you really feel about it!!)
Anyway, I've designed the basic layout of my poster and chosen a pretty colour scheme and the photos I intend to use. I suppose I really should work on the words that will go in each section next!
Morning everyone! Or the few people who still visit this thread, anyway.... :p
Today's tasks:
1.) Finish designing poster
2.) Make detailed plan for journal article I'm writing
3.) Go food shopping and prepare salads for the week
4.) Prepare for this evening's meeting of voluntary group I chair
Morning. I am getting back into it today after being quite ill yesterday. I'm not feeling good about how slowly everything has been moving...
Batfink, re: the teaching I have been doing it for 3 years now. Not a good sign really. Anyway I am going to try not to think about it now and get on with my first goal of redrafting one literature section.
Morning! Hope you feel a bit better soon. (And yes, three years is probably long enough to have an idea what you feel about the teaching - but enough of that for now...)
Today I need to make some serious progress on my journal paper, but have other bits and pieces to do as well. Oh well, I made an early start so it's all underway. Tasks for the day:
1.) Book hotels for holiday! (Half done - waiting for them to reply to emails)
2.) Finish poster and email to supervisors for comments (Done)
3.) Look at booking details for conference
4.) Summarise feedback from pilot questionnaire
5.) Make significant progress on journal article
First goal done. I feel like I am finally starting to get somewhere and that it is all starting to come together. My second goal is to redraft a second section.
I'm still feeling a bit drained today but need to get on with things. I have meetings this afternoon so need a good morning of writing. My first goal is to edit one section.
Morning!
Had a doctor's appointment this morning and went to the supermarket on the way back as it's near the surgery, so I'm only just sitting down to start work now. The aim for today is to make a lot of progress on the journal article I'm writing.
I hope that the journal paper goes well!
I have now done one section. My next goal is to move onto a second section.
Second section done (for now).
I am now going to move onto a different body of work and tidy up as much as I can between now and when I have to get ready to leave at 1.30.
Again I feel like I have an impossible amount of work to get through. My goals for today are;
1. Make more progress with literature stuff.
2. Start rewriting journal paper following reviewer comments.
3. Do some careers research. 5 months to go and I'm not sure if I want to work in academia but don't know what else I'd do either!
4. Go to the gym.
Good morning to all you One Goalers. :) Time for me to join in again ... I've got to get my proposal for the ethics committee done in the next few days and I am in a bit of a panic. (sprout)
So, goals for today:
1 - complete corrections to ethics approval form
2 - emails
3 - information leaflet & consent form
4 - changes to questionnaires?
5 - changes to interview schedule
I hope you all productive days! :)
