Thanks everyone!
I have now done my first goal which took longer than I hoped. I think I'm going to have to skip the gym this morning to make sure I don't end up rushing. I'm now going to shower then tailor my CV, make a few small changes to the supporting statement and then upload application 1.
Job application 1 submitted. My next goal is to finish and submit job application 2. I have done most of this so I'm hoping it won't take me much longer than an hour or so!
Good luck today everyone! Today my first goal is not to go on Facebook or Twitter and just focus on my work. Too easy to pop onto Facebook for 5 mins and 45 mins later still there flicking through someone's holiday pics or photos of their cat! The washing can stay in the washing machine, the Sunday papers can stay in the shop and I will stay at my desk and I WILL WRITE 1000 WORDS TODAY. Sorry for shouting but am so frustrated with lack of progress which is entirely my own fault (although the Internet should feel partly responsible). I am starting the writing up and it seems a mammoth task so think am avoiding taking the first step. However, every journey etc....
well I've had a blood test this morning, so my arm hurts. THe nurse didn't wipe the area clean before putting the needle in which is slightly concerning - I'm sure they usually do that??
ANyway, I've also got to wait in for the postman, who luckily didn't come when I was at the doctors, so I have an angry dog who's expecting a walk and I can't go until he's been, once he's been, and I've walked the dog, I have to drive for an hour up to somewhere else so guess I'll try and get some work done before he comes.
Sneaks.... I sympathise about the blood tests.. I HATE NEEDLES... grrhhh anyway .. you sound like you have a busy day a head of you, it will probably do you some good not to be sat infront of the computer all day....I went for a walk yesterday and had a lazy evening so feel much better for it today...
Funny you should be waiting for the postman.. I am as well ... It will be a good reason to take an elevenses break!
(up):p
well the postman came, after just 10 mins of work :-s so the dog is walked, and I've driven up to where I'm staying this week. THe rest of the day is mine (well my PhD's) so onwards!
I need to finish this chapter which means....
- checking what i've got in the chapter vs other versions to make sure I've got all the info I need
- make sure I've addressed all the comments made on this chapter when I submitted it to a journal (there are a lot!)
My day has been a nightmare (involving my car failing it's MOT and my hair turning green due to hair dye) so I am only now sitting down to work, with just 2 hours before hubby gets home from work. So I best do something.
Goal 1- finish step 2 of analysis
I've heard tomato ketchup can reverse green hair - I think I read that its good when you go onlholiday if you have blonde hair that goes green once you've been in the pool. May help?
Button ... sorry about your day, but atleast you have it sorted now (up)
My goal of the day isnt complete yet, but the horrendous section has been dealt with and now I just have to make the whole chapter coherent as opposed to fragmented threads of ideas :-(
I managed to achieve my 500 quality word a day goal, even managed a couple extra :-)
I don't know whether to hate my fragmented collection of words naturalme, hope you got yours sorted (up)
right, goal 1 is to get this blimmin chapter finished, by doing 2 things in the intro. The hardest part of the PhD for me is writing the bits that explain my contribution - I hate them! :-s and my supervisor never seems to think they're right.
