A quick update. I managed to do my first two goals and part of my third one. Starting to think I'm being too hard on myself all things considered (e.g. low motivation, lots of pressure and feeling very stressed right now!)... oh, well, there's always tomorrow :)
My first goal is done (I am chipping away at this very, very slowly). My next goal is to continue with the references for my thesis.
The majority of my references (except for ones I have to spend time looking up) are now inserted into a word document. That'll do for now.
My goal for the rest of the afternoon is to put together a job application.
Hello everyone.
I spent yesterday feeling crappy and ill and lying on the sofa watching TV promising myself that any time now I'd get up and do something useful, and then achieved nothing. But maybe I needed a day like that. Except that so far today I haven't achieved that much either, apart from a bit of food shopping and making a few half-hearted notes for rewriting my second year report!
Oh well. Goals for the rest of the day:
1.) Do some washing up and cleaning so I can do some cooking later
2.) Go through all the easy bits of my second year report that won't take much brain power to redraft
3.) Book travel for attending conference in September
4.) Make ratatouille for dinner - yum!
Don't worry about taking time off if you're feeling unwell Batfink. You seem to work enough over the weekends to make up for the odd unplanned day off!
I'm now back at my desk after the dentists and the gym. This evening I need to finish this job application so that tomorrow all I have to do is proofread and submit it.
Morning all. I didn't quite get my job application finished yesterday but almost.
Right now my goal for the morning is to really get stuck into my case for support document. I'm finding it all a bit daunting and want to feel like I've made some progress with it.
Morning!
Star-shaped, you're right, I don't need to feel bad about taking the occasional day off when I've been working through the weekends.
Anyway, I feel better now so will get lots done today. Working on rewriting my second year report - I'm just going to start at the beginning and work my way through, and see how far I can get in one day.
Well, I have 20 days to change my entire thesis, I have loads of little changes, but also about 6 HUGE structural ones e.g. changing the whole layout and argument of the lit review (AGAIN). I really don't think this is possible, but will try my best. Not helped that I'm out all day tomorrow and have a wedding to go to on saturday :-s
Today goal 1: amend graph with up to date statistics.
Morning all,
Sneaks that doesn't sound fun :(
I need to carry on with analysis again today, but I may finish early and nip into town. I also need to start arranging changing bills etc for when we move house- BORING.
Goal 1- do table for interview I analysed yesterday.
Goal 2- start analysing next interview

Sneaks, I think your supvervisor and mine read the same supervisor handbookl! I have the same to do as you except that it's my findings and analysis that I have to turn on its head. To be fair I can see how it will be [much] better but it's a bit 11th hour
:-(
