I also have to re-write a qualitative finidngs section, because even though I've sent it to her 8 times, she's NOW decided that its not right and I need to move things around and bring more out of the text. Great. I get the feeling she thinks its really motivating for me and its some kind of crappy management technique she thinks will get me finished, but I'm not like her other supervisees, I don't thrive under that kind of supervision - I'd much rather been told to make these changes 10 months ago.

Oh dear, that sounds really stressful. Good luck with it all! Why do supervisors behave that way? It's like they've got no idea at all what we're doing, but they went through it themselves at some point, you'd think they'd have some kind of idea!

Goal 1 is done.

Goal 2 I am making unbelievably slow progress on, so I'm going to do one more tomato on it, then have lunch and go and run some errands.

I have now made some progress on my grant application. It's very slow progress but I reckon if I carry on chipping away at it I'll have one document ready to send to my mentor by the end of the weekend.

My next goal is to start writing my thesis abstract- I meant to do this a couple of weeks ago!

Goal 3 is to re-do all the stats in chapter 1 based on the digging for updated stats I've been doing this morning.

I'm feeling pretty crappy about the whole thing now. Sup has chosen harsh examiners for her own political reasons and now has admitted that it will be a hellish viva. :-( everyone else in my department have got away with having vivas with friends of the department who are lovely, and no matter what the kudos may be of having these examiners - I'd rather pass!

My abstract is now roughly drafted out. My next goal is to chase up my missing references. I have a 2 hour driving lesson at 3.30 but I'm aiming to carry on working afterwards as late as I can stand to get things done.

I met yesterday's goals! I got 3 interviews transcribed.
I would love to say that my goal for today is to transcribe 3 interviews again, but I know that won't happen. Therefore, my goal for today is to transcribe 2 interviews.

The hot weather isn't helping though.

hot weather? its miserable where I am. Probably a good thing though as makes me want to curl up with my laptop in the warm :-)

I'm jealous of the hot weather! Although yes it's probably good that it's miserable here as otherwise I'd be out in the garden. Back at my desk now after my driving lesson- my goal is to find all of the missing references from my literature review.

Hello everybody! I've not managed to do any work yesterday or today (so far) as had to sort a few things out. Will try to make up for the weekend though as deadline is fast approaching! I'm seeing my sups next Thursday so hopefully will manage to get lots done by then! First only of the day is to get back to my analysis, it's been a bit of a daunting job and I still feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of work that i need to do so I think I might measure it in terms of tomatoes... It's mid-afternoon now and I'm only just starting so I think I'll aim for about 6 tomatoes and review it then. I hope you're all doing well :)

I told my mentor that I would send her a draft of some stuff for a research proposal by the end of the weekend. My goal for the day is to really make a dent in it and to have made some progress by around 2.30.

Got my draft back from supv with major re-structuring a la Sneaks' supervisor. Was shattered when I looked at what I have to do. I started it pretty much straight away [after large cafeine/choc intake to calm down!]. Actually as Plju and Caro both wisely commented on another thread earlier, it's actually not too bad once you get stuck in. My submission is pushed back to mid-September but that IS IT. Star-Shaped you must be submitting yours very soon?

I'm around today too. I've spent so much time procrastinating this week that I need to work today - and hard - to meet Monday's deadline for the next draft of my 2ny year report. Oh well, MrBatfink's away for the weekend so at least I'm not missing spending time with him to work! I want to get this more or less finished today, though, so I can take tomorrow off.
