Thanks, Skig!
I am at least producing models now. Although I berate myself for constantly making foolish errors, I was just thinking that I have developed a bit over the last few years. I used not to be able to touch statistics software without having palpitations and having to follow the instructions in the book word for word, so much so that I couldn't get up to go to the toilet, because it would moving my finger from the text. And I used to become so weird and introverted when doing stats that I would wear the same jumper for days. Now I can do stats and make regular clothing choices, both on the same day.
Good luck all!
Morning everyone. Here is to a productive day for us all!
My first goal today is to look for jobs to apply for. After yesterday I've realised that I need to make this a priority.
Well I stayed up late last night, my eyes and typing went blurry so stopped PhD work but did get some marking done, which has eased the pressure a teensy bit.
Although I mainly stayed up because i was backed into a room by 2 huge spiders. I've trapped one under the dog bowl this morning. The other remains in my bedroom (I assume) and was huge so its freaking me out a bit. I slept with my mini-dyson in hand just in case :$
you probably heard me shrieking too - no one was in the house so my poor dog had to put up with it. They're so fast - why?? I don't think they're that fast to catch flies etc. I think they're that fast because they're going to take over the world. :$
Also - how did they get in? I reckon they pushed the catflap open, they were THAT big.
Heh, sounds like they're preparing for an invasion at your place then! Actually, it must be something to do with the weather, there's been loads of big spiders round my way as well.
Good luck with the work today, hope people manage to get useful amounts done.
Goals for today (a catching-up sort of day):
1.) Contact two organisations hosting my study about progress with data collection
2.) Write up notes on recent reading
3.) Sort out RefWorks references
Eeeek, spiders. My BIL swears that there was one in his flat recently that must have got over here in a crate of bananas or something. I've yet to verify the story with his girlfriend, but he seemed really traumatised!
Yes my cat did turn up, thanks for asking Ady. I felt really, really stupid because it turned out she was sleeping in an awkward place in the other room all day! She doesn't usually sleep all day, or go in that room, but I still fail at observation. She doesn't go far outside so I was really worried that I couldn't find her out there and was about to start ringing round all the local vets :$
I've done my first goal and now have a list of jobs to apply for over the next couple of weeks. My next goal is to make some changes to one of my data chapters.
maybe she does always go in the other room and thus far had you convinced that she didn't sleep all day lol. my cats spend all day eyeing up my laptop keyboard trying to sit on me. :-s
Morning all!
Lol... I'm with Sneaks on this one, I've never had a cat, but most I've seen don't seem to do much during the day apart from eat and sleep! I don't mind spiders but there are way too many where I live so I'm now armed with a fly spray. Couldn't find a spider spray but it def works 8-)
Back to work now... writing my results is the mission of the day!
Sneaks you have cats as well as a dog? I'm jealous- I'm renting so I can't get more animals yet!
Today I'm having to kick her out fairly often as she is overexcited and keeps biting my feet and running around the place. It was unusual for her to be in the other room as it's where my OH usually works. He was out at meetings yesterday so the curtains were still closed so she had a nice place to hide in the bay window. He also put a full length mirror in there the other day and she's spending more time in there now as she seems to be obsessed with looking at herself in the mirror!
This morning my work has gone good. I have sorted out the changes I wanted to make and have done some other bits such as making sure extracts are labelled properly. I'm now off to the gym and when I get back will finish writing my abstract and my acknowledgements.
I'm jealous of anyone with animals - I used to have a cat but he died (sob, sob), and now I'm renting an upstairs flat so no chance at all. But my cat used to be brilliant at eating spiders - I don't know why Sneaks' cat hasn't solved the spider problem for her!
Anyway, I've contacted my two host organisations so hopefully that will lead to good things, and I've reorganised my RefWorks filing system (still got a million references to put into each folder, but hey ho, it's a start).
I guess I should get showered and dressed now - sat down before I was dressed to check emails etc and got distracted into starting work! (Er, I am wearing my nightclothes, obviously, not sitting here in the buff...)
yes, I have 2 cats and a dog, but it also means we can't sell up and rent if we need to move nearer work for example, which is a bit of a pain.
Work going ok this morning. Need to make a surge through with it. I also have 4 10,000 word documents to read through for students today :-( and I'm getting chasing emails from them.
