Back from hospital - ouch, sore arm, they had to dig around to find my vein :-( Oh well, it's done now.
And my second year report is done and sent off too. So glad that's out of the way. I'm going to spend an hour or so sorting out my RefWorks folders and then knock off early.
Morning everyone.
My first goal today is to quickly track down the 'certificate of originality' I need to put into my thesis (hopefully will be online) and then to add a paper which I have decided really needs to go into my literature review.
Morning!
I've spent an hour so far this morning sorting through references, and plan to carry on with that today. If I can get it all organised and identify the most important stuff to read next then I'll be very happy, and will enjoy my weekend off.
Sounds like you are organised- enjoy your weekend off! I'm also taking the weekend off as we have people visiting.
Well I just spoke to the research student office and found out there is a form my supervisor needs to sign which has to go in the thesis! Hopefully he can sign it, scan and email to me because I'm not sure if he's around and I'm hoping to hand it in for binding on Wednesday.
My next goal today is to finish proof reading a very, very long data chapter.
Yep, the end is very near! I'm trying not to let myself get stressed out about this form my supervisor needs to sign (I emailed him about something last week and he didn't reply. He does sometimes just forget to reply to emails so I'm sure he's around but I'm imagining him being out of contact for stupid amounts of time!). I think I'm just finding everything quite stressful at the moment!
The proof reading is going well, anyway. But now I need to start working on a job application which is due on wednesday.
I have now written out the 'additional information' section for my job application. It didn't take me too long (I got distracted with some other stuff), I'd like to say I'm getting 'good' at job applications, but 'efficient' might be more accurate. My next goal is to proof read my final data chapter.
I'm glad I'm not the only one... although I am slightly jealous that you're going to a party tomorrow Naturalme. Not in a bad way, I'm just sooo stressed that I don't feel able to take time off. I know I should for my own health and well-being but I'd rather just finish the work off at this stage! Put it this way, I'm only having the Sunday off as there's a family thing that I really can't get out of it. If I could, I would!! Is it bad that I just want to do my work? I'm only weeks from my final deadline and I'm not even finished my stats yet??
I technically have 10 days before my deadline. I have to do...
1) change my lit review
2)write a load of stuff into my methods chapter and change a lot of existing stuff
3) add and change a lot of things to my chapter 4
4) re-write the qualitative results section of chapter 5
5) run analysis for chapter 6 and divide the chapter into two - then write a final discussion for it.
6) write a discussion chapter.
7) write an abstract
8) write acknowledgements
9)sort out references.
This is clearly NOT going to happen. But I'm hoping to aim for at least 1-5 done.
Today is focusing on 1) so...
Goal 1: sort out definition section.
greetings everyone...
talk about reality check!! after a wonderful Saturday evening, I was under the weather all of yesterday and couldnt even sit at my desk:$!! woke up today feel heaps better and the truth hit home ...like you sneaks I have a mammoth task ahead of me for the next couple of weeks!! Skig I feel you all the way I have bits that I have been avoiding and now there is no where else to turn, cue the discussion chapters...( I wrote about this in the positivity thread- I literally have to just grind my teeth and face the music and award my self a treat every now and then... but there are no more breaks now until the job is done:$:-( ...) well as I said we just have to try and keep it positive focusing on how the good bits have been really good and know that these not so great ones will pass as well... Skig you can do it!! .. I have my whole conclusion chapter to tackle yet!!
I'm glad you had a good Sat night, Naturalme and thank you for the encouragement! You're a mind reader!! I was giggling to myself as I was reading your post because I'd been procrastinating the whole day so far until I kicked myself in the butt and made me go on here to set some goals (and get some work done!).
Like you and Sneaks I have loads to do by the 19th of September and this includes lots of editing and writing. I think you're right in your approach and I too will just have to grind my teeth (and maybe glue my bottom to the chair) until this is done!
Goals for the day:
1) check my stats from Sat -had a few ideas about these
2) do the remainder analyses
3) rewrite my method
4) email sups
