I woke up yesterday with a slightly scratchy throat. Today the same, now I have a headache :-( and I've just realised the kid I live with has gone back to school this week and probably brought home horrible germs that I now have :-(
right I have a 5pm deadline of leaving my current location. so before then I need to
- finish off the chapter I'm working on
- sort out 3 students' work
- put a call out saying this is the last chance for me to feedback work
- finish poster for next week's conference
- sort out workshop for next week's conference
- order book to help with lecture planning.
hmm not sure if that is all doable, but I'm going to have a good go.
Good luck, Sneaks. With a list like that I usually start with the quickest items, to get some easy wins and make the list shorter!
Today, I will mostly be testing hypotheses. First job, to decide which hypotheses need to be tested for inclusion in the conference presentation.
I'm finding it really hard to sleep with the stress/anxiety of all the work I've got on so am up early today.
Good news is that I've managed to put off the university fees office and convince them that I will be submitting ASAP so please don't charge me £thousands.
Those goals were a bit ambitious, so have become my weekend goals, as well as reviewing papers for a conference.
Goal 1 for today: finish current chapter working on.
Hey Sneaks, I think the lack of sleep is not unusual considering the circumstances:-( I hope you're managing to do your work ok.
I'm a bit behind the schedule but still hopeful I can do everything I need to by the end of the weekend. I told sups I'd send then a final draft over the weekend but I think it might be Monday now. Oops!
Oh, well, so things I need to do today:
1) write remaining of my analysis and 2) discussion
Hi all, is it alright if I join this thread? I have got another thread where I am writing about my progress but I think it will be good for me to have short term doable goals and stick to them. I am doing my PhD in applied physics, supposed to submit next month but have got extension up to Dec for data collection and thesis submission by the end of March. I am aiming to finish everything off by 31st of Dec - am not sure how feasible this is going to be.
Today's goal: Submit two simulations and put together two results.
Thought I would join in, rather than just lurking in the backgound.
Today's goal - review pilot study results and check reliability of scales (done)
Tomorrow's goal - finish making amendments to online questionnaire and launch it to the world before packing for my trip to Madrid :-)
welcome to you both - stars for everyone :-)
I've done most my goals, just got to design the stoopid poster and change workshop details, which will take a while.
Thanks Skig, I hope you are feeling better now.
I will be off to work in a bit, have to put all my results together for tomorrow's meeting with my supervisors. I have quite a lot of results to show this time which I am very happy about :-) My lovely friends are taking me out for tea this afternoon as I have been working all the time.
Have a nice day folks! Will report back later on.
I am! Headache is gone, thanks for asking! Hope you're having a productive day and enjoy yr tea with your mates!
I still have to write a discussion and do a last proofread on 3 chapters so lots to do. My 'end of the weekend' deadline is looking more like 'Monday' as time passes by oops.

That's good Skig! Unfortunately my day wasn't as productive as I planned :( Tea with mates was very nice, thanks. I needed that break badly. I am still putting the results together. I hope I will be able to complete it in a while.
Good luck with your discussion part and the rest (up)
