Today, I will mostly be continuing with sorting out my conference presentation. I'm also going into town to sort out bits for my trip, like buying Euros (or euro, or whatever the correct term is!!)

haha Cindrella - you got my least liked phrase ever "just get on with it", I've got to the stage where I can't talk to my parents, because every time they do they say "well just get your nose to the grind stone and get on with it" - err yeah, ok, I'll stop going to these wild parties every day that are delaying my progress. Oh wait, no I don't go to those, because I'm always working lol

Discussion section of my chapter today - not looking foward to it at all, but I'm going to try and rattle it out before lunch.

Good luck Sneaks, you'll do it. I was asked by my sister in law yesterday, "so did you get your papers in - how long are you at it now?" She also told me about people I don't know (her husband's two second cousins!!) who got doctorates recently but I knew from what she was saying that it was a degree they got, not a PhD. I didn't bother correcting her :-(

in my discussion I have a paragraph that interprets the findings from one of my hypotheses. My sup has put "not sure if needed" next to the entire paragraph and told me to remove it. This is the paragraph I put in because when we sent it for publication, the reviewers said they didn't really understand why we hadn't talked about a large section of the results lol. (she'd taken a similar paragraph out before sending it to publication). :-s

I am extremely sorry Sneaks, for the wrong phrase :( and am sorry if I have offended you. I didn't mean to do so. Good luck with your discussion part!

not to worry Cindrella, it made me laugh tbh, I am getting on with it today though ;-) although I've suddenly become hungry, so may take a 10 mins break to hunt through the kitchen cupboards

It's almost 2 o'clock here, and I am getting ready to leave my office (my "real" everyday job).
So, I'm going to my mum's for lunch (we have family lunch everyday) and at 3 my PhD-day will start.

So my goal for today is to write one section of my 2nd analysis chapter!

Then go to the gym and then...we'll see....

well I seem to spend most of my days recently deciphering sup's handwriting and squiggles. Why oh why can she not use track changes!?

Getting there, nearly done this chapter. Dreading the next though :-(

@Cindrella - thanks, I know we're supposed to take breaks etc but I don't really like it as I feel I lose track of things...

@ Sneaks - About your paragraph that your sup wants you to remove it, could you keep it? Would she remember she told you to remove? Cheeky I know but I agree with you that you need to talk about your hypothesis somewhere on the results section!

Saying that, everyone seems so busy around here that it helps me to keep motivated and pushing forward so thank you!

Chapter done :-) paragraph kept, but broken up so she might not realise :p

Now will eat (turkey) and then have work for students to do. ALso have to print out contracts for new job and find passport/proof of qualifications and anything else they require!

My day hasn't been the most productive, things have slowed down a bit. To be honest, I'm just really tired after the 'marathon' of the past few weeks. Plus I'm sorting out references, appendices, etc and it's just sooo boring! I'm sure I'll get there eventually though!

well I've done the student work, you've reminded me that I have to do my references Skig. I might try and watch downton abbey on iplayer whilst doing the first few pages of the lit review!

I know its late but I just wanted to come on here and say perservearance pays, I finally finished the dreaded chapter and it is matching on to my sup tomorrow once I have slept and have a clear enough head to make sure I havent left major blunders in it ...

'@sneaks I like how you are able to find the funny side to your sup's ' meddling' in what you want to put in your chapter .. good on you for finding a way round.

@ skig.. I know exactly how you feel.. when the steam is just ran out .. but I think the final parts are the most difficult only because we see the end and just want to be rid of the work (I know thats what i feel)

I will be back tomorrow indeed to start on yet another chapter that I have been avoiding and looking foward to at the same time (if that even makes any sense!!)
