Today's goal is to get some understanding of correspondence analysis and whether its appropriate to my data. Am anticipating a fun day.
Sneaks, I'd be inclined to leave your word as is, at least for the examiners - if you asterisk it you are implicitly including a judgement on it and the speaker and to acknowledge that the word (and associated regrettable attitudes) exist is just a fact not offensive in itself. Though if your thesis or associated papers are put online I could imagine that it might be necessary to asterisk to avoid automatic filtering.
I'm finding all this qualitative stuff really annoying. I can't say "women said this" apparently, which is irritating - finding it v difficult to write up the findings :-(
going ok, but not fast enough :-( story of my life really haha! I need to finish the results by the end of today, otherwise I'll be seriously behind on everything.
Just got back from "real" work....
I feel really tired, because we had new children in today and I had to deal with many new cases and assess many of them...
Now I think I will rest for an hour or so, and then I will start working again.
So, goals for today:
1) REST
2) Write abstract for conference
3) Send abstract
Hi all,
I feel a stranger here now .. I havent been on for the week... I hope everyone is doing better... I am just fighting with the denial that comes with that last hurdle ( winning very slowly) ...
@ Skig - I read your thesis post and really glad for you- that you had back up
@Sneaks - I know all about staring into space and reading things that have nothing to do with what I need to be writing :-)
everyone please keep on... these last few days are like torture, one has to fight with ones natural desire to pack it in! with every drop of strength.. but ... WE SHALL OVER COME (up)
Good morning!
@Naturalme, thanks. It was a bit of shock, followed by denial and anger but I finally gave in and just moved on ;-) how are things going your way?
Goals for the day.
1) format more references
2) write a few more words on preface
3) finish reviewing one chapter
4) start (and maybe finish if I work really hard!) reviewing another
It'll be a tough day but time is ticking and I still have lots to do so the pressure is on!
I have so much to do, so little time :-( Already annoyed at slow start this morning as hubby seems to assume that we can just laze about all morning, I wanted to get up and get going, get washing in etc get to to town, get back and get to work, so now have had to cut the town trip (which was for me) as its too late in the day :-s
Goal 1 today is to re-read results section (again!) and see what i need to be doing with it. Hate this results section now!
@Skig - Im just slogging in ... its such a lovely day and I fancied an afternoon in the park but - the conclusion chapter will NOT write itself so I am reduced to tea breaks in the garden and a bit of sun to go with that :-)
@Sneaks - dont worry I hated my results chapter especially the last one it took me ages to complete - but you will get there!! I have had a super late start as well today :-(
My goals for today -
- Divide conclusion into bite size chunks
-Finish each chunk
- complete the conclusion
All the best everyone!!
OMG, there has been an alarm going ALL day today. Surely the person breaking into whichever property it is, should have taken time to rip out the alarm too, its extremely annoying! and its too hot to close the windows :-(
@Sneaks - I hope the alarm got sorted:-(
@Naturalme, Sneaks and anyone else lurking around, I hope you're having a productive day.
Mine hasn't been that great so far. I had loads of motivation this morning but it's worn off over the day. I've been stuck on goal 3 for about 2 hrs now and I'm dreading 4, so change of plans. I'm going to finish 3 and go back to doing more menial (but still necessary!) things such as referencing, formatting and appendices.
Hello to anyone who might be around working on this very fine day! Especially if, like me, you wished you were outdoors enjoying the sun!
Goals:
- do a last check on the reviewed chapter
- review another chapter
- write a bit more of the preface
- check my appendices are all in
- double check on the formatting of the appendices
I've done quite a lot today, but then got lazy. I've driven into london, then out of london (2 hours), walked the dog (40 mins) and then sat down and watched dowton abbey :$ I'm supposed to hand in my thesis on friday (to my sup) as a final draft, I've got 1 chapter to finish today, another to re-draft and the discussion chapter to write! Plus, I'm teaching all day thus and fri and need to prepare for that. ARGH!
So my main goals today are....
- finish current chapter
- prepare for teaching
So goal 1
- make changes to chapter that I noted in a print out yesterday
Hi Sneaks, Skig and anyone else who is reading, I hope you don't mind if I gate crash the thread. I have ONE major goal today. And that is to write/edit for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I am re-drafting a very long chapter - getting started on the second half of it today. I need some toast first though because I am starting to feel peckish.
Have faffed about on the internet for an hour, on the back of writing a work email, :( oh dear. Although I have resisted Fraisier, which I consider something of an achievement.
I need to get started - will pop back when my toast if finished.
