Good morning all. I've driven for an hour already, walked the dog and watched downton abbey :$ my excuse is that the sky man is coming to change the box, so all our recorded programmes will be lost, so it had to be watched :$
I now have LOTS of things to do. Mainly, I Have to do lots of analyses for another project. I also have to have a lecture planned and onto moodle by tomorrow evening. I also have to practice going through the slides for the lecture I have tomorrow.
I also have a research interview at lunchtime. Busy busy busy!
Morning everyone
I overslept this morning so have only just got to the computer, and still am not showered or dressed. And I have no food in the flat so have to go food shopping before I do anything else. Hmm, that suggests today may not be that productive!
Oh well. Once those tasks are done, the plan for the day is:
1.) Come up with a title and broad idea for content for conference presentation
2.) Work on detailed plan of data analysis and other actions over next six months
3.) Start working on creating hypotheses to test
Morning (nearly afternoon!) folks!
I'm back here as I'm turning away from the work mode and falling back into procrastination habits, so I must nip this in the bud! Today I've no lectures, so I'm determined to get my next paper draft finished. Have loads of changes to do, extra papers to read and all, and haven;t been working on it for aaaaages so it should be a challenge! But I shall do it!
Goal 1, read through new papers, and get key points relevant to paper...Good luck everyone!
Afternoon all! After running some Uni related errands this morning I've returned to my desk. Goal 1: type up notes I took in writing last night. Goal 2: write up reflexive notes on this morning's events.
Sneaks - Downton Abbey. Matthew Crawley. What can I say. :-x
Goal 1 accomplished - although I'll have another read through at the end of the day
Goal 2 - halfway through I think.
Is there anyone else around who's submitting shortly and starting to think that their whoole work (or at least the majority of it) is rubbish? Or is it just me:$ I'm struggling to write on stuff that I previously found pretty easy but everything just looks rubbish right now...
yes, having watched DA, I've strangely considering going to buy appropriate attire and doing my lecture in the style of Mary tomorrow lol.
I'm in a bit of a bind, I have a seminar that students were supposed to present in, all the stuednts in the group have gone AWOL, so have to think of something to fill the hour. I should stick to something around practising presentations, but can't think of what to give them to do!
I was thinking, give their groups (they're already divided up into presentation groups) a topic - give them 10 mins to look into it, and then each group has to do a 5-10 min presentation. Hubster thinks the topics should relate to what the presentation was supposed to be on, but finding it difficult to do that!
still doing my analyses. I also have to really get on with this lecture prep.
I've decided for the seminar to print off news stories, relating to the topic (but are more fun) and get each group to read the articles and present it to the group- I'll give them 3-4 things they need to cover in the presentation.
Dusted goals 1, 2 and 3 and had lunch to boot! It's going suspiciously well today, although admittedly it's all fairly admin-y stuff I'm doing so not exactly taxing on the old brain! Now onto goal 4 and something I've been meaning to do for the last few months :$ : make a list of what I consider are my core texts for easier future reference.

just had convo with sup who has 'briefly skimmed' my thesis. Her main suggestion is to edit it (its too long) and to move a bit of the discussion of one chapter into the intro of the next. GUESS WHAT I spent ALL last week moving this section from the later intro, to the earlier discussion because that's what she said she wanted :-s :-s :-s :-s and she said "oh I bet you're really frustrated with the process now" and I was thinking "well no, just with YOU" ARGH!
Plus she doesn't relaly give any indication of the quality of the thesis except "don't get me wrong, it is good BUT there's [a million problems with it]"
and as my mother in law is fond of saying "everything before the BUT is Bullsh*t"
