Blimey, we're getting a lot of spam on here at the moment. Very annoying!
Anyway, hope everyone's going to get lots of lovely work done this week! I'm feeling positive and geared up for powering through.
Goals for today (I'll see how far through I get):
1.) Read a couple of journal articles
2.) Look at what's revealed by frequency data
3.) Assemble the writing I've done so far for the thesis
4.) Write up some notes from previous reading
Good moring Batfink! It sounds as if you're getting through tons of work, all very technical too... so well done for that.
I've done three hours of editing this moring: an hour between 6:30 - 7:30, a break for an hour during which I watched a very surreal kids programme and a hilarious episode of Father Ted ('Hell') and then two more hours of work between 8:30 -10:30. Am going to cut some slack, maybe in an hour or so of rest, and then get cracking on the remainder. Just need my brain to power up again.
I finished editing the first half of my chapter, and hope to finish editing this draft later today. So see you later and have a great day. Esk X
I'm supposed to hand in my final final draft this friday, but I'm so busy with other stuff and still haven't written the discussion chapter!!
I have a meeting in a minute, but then should have all afternoon to
1) get another project off the ground - creating a huge survey
2) finish plannning a module i'm teaching
3) maybe get around to writing the discussion!
Hi Eska, sounds like you're getting lots done too - and I do that start work early, break for something (I watched a re-run of Location Location Location from my home city this morning!) then get on to the next thing. Makes the day feel like less of a slog - I just have to watch I don't end up getting distracted by TV!
And Sneaks - good luck with the thesis, I hope you do manage to get to the discussion chapter in between all the huge number of other things you're trying to do!
I've achieved my first and third goals for today, so on to goal 2 next.
Hello dear one goal forum friends, Good luck with goal 2 Batfink, sounds terribly technical! And Sneaks, it seems you are taking over the world - another project off the ground; finish the thesis and write a module, all this week in between teaching, blimey, I'm dizzy just thinking about it... Remember when you used to fall asleep in the dog basket every afternoon???
Anyhow, I haven't done any solid PhD work since this morning, just looking at job vacancies - which are practically none-existant in my field at present. I have been marching about from the local cafe to the park and to the shops in a rather manic, hyper, getting it all done fashion - only not actually doing it... I think I'm over excited about a theare trip tonight, so have been getting ready for that and buying goodies for me and my possee. I have also scoffed many of said goodies, including a bag of Thorntons chocs, oh dear.
Now I will settle down to edit again until 5:30 -45 when I need to have dinner and get ready. So another two hours, I feel as if my brain has re-charged enough.
Ha ha Eska, scoffing the chocs you bought - that's the sort of thing I do if I ever try to be over-organised!
Goal 2 might look technical but it really isn't. Anyway, I couldn't face that one when it came to it so I swapped it for a goal I was going to do tomorrow - coming up with coding categories for an open question. Which I've now almost done. So, I'll finish listing the coding categories and then spend a short while writing up notes from previous reading, and then I'll be done for the day. Yay! I'm achieving my daily goals at the moment, it feels good!
omg - those dog bed days were heavenly!
I managed to get the survey sorted, still have about 2 hours work left on the module guide. I'm going to sit down tonight and try and get some of my referencing and appendices done as that requires less brain power and i've just driven in the fog for an hour and my eyes are tired.
Hi folks, just a quick note to say - I finished the two hours, but not my re-draft. I still have five (four and a half, really) pages to go, so it's a bit frustrating to be so close to the end and have to leave it until tomorrow. But I guess I can do that and pick up the fiddly bits of research I need to do after teaching in the evening.
Must dash as I have to get ready - and buy more fizzy drinks and chocolate to replace what I snaffled earlier. Ho Hum... Good luck X
Today is the big discussion day! I have already had requests to annoy me - but I'm trying to drown them out a little!
Goal 1: read through study 1 and summarise in the discussion
Good luck Sneaks, sounds like you're making good progress already.
Been swimming this morning so only just about to start work now. But I feel good for the swim and am ready to blitz it again today. Goals:
1.) Code responses to one open question
2.) Analyse what frequencies/histograms tell me
3.) Sort out claim form and booking for training course
4.) Read some journal articles (if time)
I'd love to do stats today instead of stupid discussion :-(
I've done goal 2
Goal 3 I'm working on, which is summarising study 3 for discussion.
