The One Goal Thread

L

Hello Batfink, glad to hear your writing is going well! I'm struggling today but I will get these words done today! I am determined!

H

i might as well join this thread as am really STRUGGLING.

today i'd like to: 1) read through current draft of chapter and cut out irrelevant sections. (one hour) then have my lunch.

after that i'll come back and write what i'll do next.

the struggle is that bad. i'll be glad if i can do just that!

H

finished proofreading. write 500 word section by end of tonight. (1 hour)

Sounds like you made some progress there Hailey, hope this thread helps!

And good luck to you too Lindalou!

Today, my plan is to just power through as much writing of my chapter as I can. I realised I've made a mistake with the structure so I need to fix that, and then hopefully it will flow more easily. Let's see how many words I can achieve!

B

Uuughh, I'm doing such a boring task today; I'm finishing off analysing my interviews, and at the moment I need to produce a table of themes for each group, including all supporting quotations...I have six groups, and I'm not even a quarter of the way through the first group. Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh (down)(sprout)(sprout)(sprout)(sprout)

I will be REALLY happy if I can get the first table done today, and then go and buy a shiny new PC and also a shiny new netbook 8-)

Wow Button, a new PC and a new netbook! Nice! Well good luck with your analysis, and good luck Batfink and all you other lovely Postgrad forum peoples!

I'm just carrying on today, I've worked out I need to write at least 750 words per day to hit my target date to have three chapters in! Eek! Anyway... here we go...!

L

Good afternoon peoples. Goal 1 of writing 750 words is now complete (and having a late lunch). Now I want to get the following tasks completed this afternoon as I have supervision in the morning and I think it's going to be a tough one this month:

1. Re-read Crotty's definition of Constructionism
2. Re-read Corbin and Strauss' level of theories
3. Check travel timetables for tomorrow to make sure I don't get caught out

Once I've completed these tasks, I might go back to writing for a bit, or I may leave it there for this afternoon so I don't get brain fry as I will very definitely need my brain to be in tiptop condition tomorrow! Hope everyone else is doing ok today :-)

B

Well done on your writing Linda!

I'm still plodding on, I didn't realise a task could be so boring! Anyway, I'll keep going, the PC and netbook are getting closer and closer!

L

Oooh so exciting Button, I love getting new gadgets and technology, I'm such a nerd! My fiance got me a new laptop for Christmas and I'm obsessed with it, I'm like, oooh, shiny! every 5 minutes!

I have now completed goals 2 and 3. I'm contemplating whether to read Crotty now or in the morning on the train so it's fresh... but I do have oodles of reading I wanted to do on the train so I suppose I'd better get on with it now then finish in the morning if required!

Hope you are all having excellent days!

Hey guys

Belated Happy New Year y'all! Glad to see that everyone's still ploughing on determinedly (is that a word?). I thought I'd check back in here after a long holiday-related silence. I treated myself to 2 weeks of doing sweet FA over the holidays and am now trying to get back in the swing of things. Have spent much of the day sorting through the piles of papers and folders around the house and planning my work for the next little while, so that I can start working effectively right from the start. I'm determined to get back to some positivity - and productivity! :p - this year after a terrible slump in both in the last few months. Looking forward to many happy - ahem - hours back on this thread!

B

Good to see you back MissPiggy, I think lots of us had long breaks off over Christmas, just trying to get back into it now!

I managed to complete my goal yesterday, although it was really hard! And I then went and bought my shiny PC and shiny netbook...I haven't opened them yet but I keep squealing at them every time I look at them, how sad!

Anyway my plan for the day is;

Goal 1- complete second analysis table (this will take me all day!)
Goal 2- go to the gym before tea
Goal 3- set up shiny new PC and shiny new netbook, ready to play with them both all weekend (up)

Oooh, shiny new technology is lovely.....

Hello everyone, seems like the thread is getting busy again as we all get back into the work - good stuff!

Today, I'm still working on the chapter that I need to send to my supervisors on Tuesday. I made good progress yesterday so if I can get into it today it might all just fly out of my fingertips, but I haven't had a day like that for many many months so grinding the words out slowly will do if it has to!

L

Hi all, hope you're having good days! I had a depressing supervision today, so I'm having the afternoon off to feel sorry for myself & eat some chocolate! Enjoy your new gadgets Button & have a good weekend all! (up)

Oh dear Lindalou, I hope you manage to enjoy your afternoon off anyway!

My progress on this chapter is painfully slow, and I've finally admitted I won't be meeting my other half for a nice evening off tonight, it's going to be working late and then up early in the morning to start again. Boo hoo! :-(
But hopefully I'll get enough done so I can take tomorrow evening off and see my beloved! Yay! (He says he doesn't mind about tonight, he's going to stay in and watch rugby... awwww... Still feel bad about it though!)

B

A wash of motivation has come over me...I have completed 4 of 6 analysis tables, 3 of which I've done today, and I thought they'd take me ages to do! I'm also going to make a start on the last two tonight (I may sack off the gym in order of productivity). I think it's because I want to get them all done on my old computer to avoid any formatting issues when moving from word 2007 to 2010...I figured if I do them all on my old computer then it won't get confusing! So obviously, the sooner I get these damn analysis tables done, the sooner I can play on my shiny new PC!

Therefore, for all those with no motivation, I have the answer to your troubles; go buy yourselves a new PC (the shinier the better) (up)
