Washes of motivation are good - I seem to have one today, which is great, as I'd really like to get the bulk of this chapter finished today so I can focus on writing up some data analysis for the next couple of days.
Anybody else working today?
I've already finished off one section of my chapter this morning. Now I have another major section to power through, but luckily I have some bits I wrote previously and some detailed notes, so there's not too much brand new stuff to create. I'd like to get this section done by early afternoon.
Hi Batfink! I'm here, but just for the morning. Sounds like you're making great progress!
My first and only goal today is to finish my last analysis table, then I can FINALLY set up my new computers! I'm not looking forward to the whole transferring work and installing everything though (down)
Hi Button! I hope that the thought of how lovely the laptop will be once everthing's sorted is enough to get you through, I really hate all that installing.
Half way through the section I wanted to get done by early afternoon, so feeling good...
Hope you're close to finishing, Button!
Unfortunately I'd forgotten that I need to produce three tables for this part of my chapter, and they're taking a ridiculously long time to sort out, so there's now no way I'll finish today. Oh well. I'm going to do as much as I can today and then pick up again tomorrow - if I can finish tomorrow I'll still have time to look at my data analysis before Tuesday.
I only have about another hour of work left in me, though - I'm getting really tired! But a final push for that hour and then I'm going to take the evening off and probably catch up with friends down the pub. That thought makes me happy!
ok, so I've submitted but I still have so much work to do and I clearly need some kind of goal, so things to do today:
Make a dent in pile of marking, start viva prep, read through intro of publication and tweak, try and force myself to do a page of admin stuff, read through a student's work.
Goal 1: Read through intro of publication and tweak.
Right then. Defeated a deadline yesterday, so today I can attack the next one.
Challenge: one pile of undergrad lab reports to mark.
Really want to get through them all today so tomorrow I can be back in the lab working through my long list of experiments-to-be-done.
Congrats on submitting sneaks!
I've also got a pile of admin related jobs to do today, but I just keep looking at summer holidays online instead.
But my goals are:
Goal 1- write yesterday's journal
Goal 2- edit abstract 1 and save to comp
Goal 3- submit abstract 1
Goal 4- sort all work from yesterday's course
Goal 5- look into friday course and decide if want to go
Goal 6- chase up december claims
Goal 7- do petrol expenses for yesterday (visiting participant)
Goal 8- reply to email re mentoring
Goal 9- edit abstract 2
Goal 10- submit abstract 2
Goal 11- sort onenote info
Goal 12- analysis work
So as you can see I have loooads to do, none of which is very appealing. Best get going!
Still struggling on with writing my chapter. I have to send it to my supervisors by 2.30pm and it won't be ready by then, so I'm going through and making notes about what will be included in the bits I haven't yet written, and trying to add in as much actual writing as I can before I have to send it. I don't feel too bad about not finishing though, it's been very useful to write as much as I have and I feel more confident about my ability to write chapters fairly quickly.
Anyway, back to it. Good luck everyone!
oh dear - I've finished goal 1 but its taken ages. I've also only got up to the result section in my publication and its already over 6k words which is the total limit :-s
ANyway, will move onto one of the others - will check the students work I think.
done the student feedback. I should really try and do a bit of marking tonight.
hmm marking or viva prep????
maybe marking as can't concentrate very well tonight as will have hubster annoying me
Hi all,
I've got loads to do today, so I best get going;
Goal 1- check covered everything in 2 tables
Goal 2- go through all tables and highlight key quotes
Goal 3- go through all tables for explanations of findings
Goal 4- summarise findings
Goal 5- do plan of findings chapters
Goal 6- submit abstract 2 once hear back off sup
Wow looks like you've all been really busy over the past couple of days! I've been out doing some follow up interviews but I'm hopefully going to make some progress on my chapter today as I've not done any writing since last week. I'm heading off to a seminar at 12 so I've got a couple of hours to write, here goes!
Good luck with your work today peoples, I'm looking forward to tomorrow and Friday where I have nothing booked and I can just get on with my work! I hate having to keep to-ing and fro-ing all the time when I have so much to do!
