Hi everyone
Got my chapter sent off to my supervisors yesterday, but didn't manage to send them the written-up initial results I'd also promised them. Supervision meeting tomorrow so I need to have something of the results to show them then. But I was so tired that I slept in, and I have to pop into town and do some jobs around the house as well as work today, so it's not going to be a massively productive day. Oh well!
Goal for today:
Run a final couple of tests, finish writing up results of initial data analysis before meeting tomorrow
Hey
Good to see that everyone's making good progress, but my, does it create pressure to keep up! ;-) I've unexpectedly a little more office time today than expected, so time to get posting some goals again to give my day some structure.
Goal 1. Call 2 participants for catch-up
Goal 2. Hunt through old emails to find the one by sup giving a really good synopsis of my previous data
Goal 3. Attempt to write up similarly clever insights from my new data
Goal 4. Re-read analysis papers to get my thinking back on track
Well I've sort of covered goals 1-3 even though I didn't really achieve goal 1 as neither participant was home when I called. Does leaving messages count as catching up? :$
Anyways, the rest of the day will be spent on goal 4, refreshing my foggy memory on all things analysis as I can't see the wood for trees anymore! Tada!
Yes I think leaving messages counts! hehe! At least you've done your bit!
I'm trying to get to 4,00 words before I finish for today cos I have a busy week next week, I'm supposed to have three chapters ready for my next team supervision at the end of March. I was supposed to be going to a seminar today but I have a sniffly cold and I have too much to do! Has anybody else sacrificed going to seminars etc because of their workload?
Surprisingly, I've whacked out 1000 words in the last hour, I don't know what came over me. I think it's because I haven't done any writing for months, so maybe I was ready to do some!
Re seminars yes I often skip them, usually because they sound boring :$
Hi all, I've got to leave the house at 12 to go to a meeting, which means waking sleeping puppy up at 11 to tire her out before I go. So I need to get my goals done before that, which doesn't give me an awful lot of time!
Goal 1- finish summary of findings
Goal 2- send work to sup, and ask if she has read my abstract
Goal 3- sort what going to cover in meeting
Goal 4- submit abstract
Well done for your work yesterday Button! I loved your post about going to the gym, hehe! I managed to get substanitally more done yesterday than I intended to (I'm now at 5,000 words woohoo!) so just carrying on really. It must be something to do with this forum!
To get to 6,000 today would be great but realistically I think it's going to be more like a 500-600 word day today as I have a number of other things on the backburner including some massive stresses in my personal life (rented house, I'm looking at you!).
Have a good day 8-)
Lindalou, the gym was horrible, I hate going :-( good luck with your writing!
I've done goals 1-3, can't do goal 4 as sup hasn't got back to me yet. I also need to do some teaching prep, hopefully I can squeeze that in now before puppy wakes up.
I don't think I'll be back on again now until Monday (lots of chores to do this afternoon, then I'm away seeing my mum and dad tomorrow, then I'm having most of the weekend off as I worked last weekend!) So I hope everyone has a productive few days!

Well done Button, and well done for going to the gym too! (up) Aaah I want a puppy! Not allowed though :-( I know I've missed you now but I hope you have a good weekend anyway!
I'm halfway through my allotted word count for today but I've had to pop out to buy milk which has held me back a bit (I can't work without tea, it's not possible!)
Right, I'm going off to get some more words written now!
Button, sounds like you've been really busy and productive!
Lindalou, good luck with the work today!
I just had a supervision meeting and got good feedback on the chapter I sent them earlier in the week - useful suggestions and encouraging noises about having made good progress, which is always nice.
Going to have a relatively easy day today, I'm very tired. Goals for the day:
1.) Write up notes from supervision meeting and email to supervisors
2.) Sort out and print all info I need for residential training course I'm going on next week
3.) Run some some more tests on my data
Hello everyone!
I haven't been in the forum for quite a lot of time.... So HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow I am flying over to UK for supervisions........
But before leaving, I have some more things to do......
So, my ACADEMIC goals for today are:
1) Finish editing one section of analysis chapter
2) Type thesis outline
After finishing with these tasks, I will have to take care of my travel arrangements......like packing a suitcase for a week (by the way, what is the weather like in London?????) and making sure not to forget anything important (as if the are unimportant things....)
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
