Morning all - and hello again to Emmaki! Sounds like you had an early night last night! Just checking in to say I'm going to try and crack on today, I think it's unrealistic that I will have the chapter completed today but I want to get it almost to a point where I can tidy it up next week then put it to one side! I feel like I've been working on the same chapter forever now so it'll be nice to get it over with!
Hope everyone has a good day!
morning all. Eeek went to boxing training last night and I now seem to have lost the the use of my 4th AND 5th finger on my right hand....so much for wwrtiting! I have too myself to my favourite coffee shop to write this morning...hoping a change of scenario will make me more productive. Planning on trying to get a chapter tidied up today... sup meeting next week and I seem to have lots of odds and ends unfinished which is quite annoying- but got to the point where I dont want to continue with them as I need advice before I carry on. I started writing up a chapter a realised I have way too much data to call it one chapter....potentiallly coulld split it into 3 chapters......but all the variables are inter linked so maes it hard to know where the cut off point for a different chapter should be....grrrr productive day all!!!
Oh dear - I hope you've had your hand looked at?! Sounds painful!
I know the feeling well - I started writing a chapter before Christmas but I lost the will to live with it and gave up! I will return to it in a couple of weeks time when I've got my analysis chapters under my belt. I get fed up if I spend too long working on one thing and can't see the woods for the trees at times!
Hope you have a good day! Working in a coffee shop sounds good - I'm at home and it's real willpower to stay in the office!
will go to the docs if it still hurts tomorrow. well it doesnt exactly hurt just feels like weird cramp. Lindalou- do you have a job for when u finish? I know its an extra thing to stress about but I am probably more worried about employment post-phd than I am about my viva.
Eek well it sounds ouchie! I can't imagine trying to type with injured fingers!
No I don't have a job lined up for when I finish, which is a massive source of worry for me too, but the plan at the moment is to just get a job, any job, and then go from there really. I am worried about the job market and the stories you hear on this website about people being jobless when they qualify but I have another year left yet so I'm hoping things may have picked up by then. Fingers crossed! I have to get this blinking thing finished first though!
I don't blame you for worrying - it's a horrible time at the moment! I only narrowly missed being made redundant because I left my job to start a PhD, goodness knows where I would've ended up had I not been successful!
Just checking in - I am wrapping up my chapter today, woohoo! I will get this one finished today then start working on the next one tomorrow. I've got around 18,500 words to do between now and March but I have a fair few meetings etc this week and next week. Hopefully I'lll be able to get it all done!
Hope everyone is having a good day :-)
Hello all!
Just sat in front of my computer after taking the weekend off......
The time is 4:48 and I am getting ready to start!!!!!!
Well, my goal for today is to manage to sit down and write one section!!!!!!!!! It will be around 1500 words, but I know what I want to write, so it is doable (I think)..........................
Hello everyone
Haha, Emmaki, I had a late start as well today, I set the alarm for 8 am but just couldn't get out of bed! Looks like a bit of a late night for me tonight to make up for it!
Today I'm carrying on with my data analysis, just ploughing my way through my list of things I need to test. I need to havew a proper think about the next stages of the analysis but I'm feeling really dopey today, don't know why, so I'll leave that til tomorrow I think.
Hi Batfink and Emmaki,
Chapter done, off to one of my sups to see if it's anywhere near the required standard! My guess is that it won't but we shall see!
Hope you're both having a good day, I'm just about ready to flop now!

Ha, data analysis isn't my favourite either. It just seems to take so long! Feels like I'm not making any progress, though I'm sure I am really. At least I hope I am - I'm hoping that I'll suddenly realise I'm way further forward than I thought I was!
My eyes are tired from squinting at SPSS all day, so I'm going to turn the laptop off and take a break, then do some reading (from printed stuff!) this evening.
Good luck with all the work! Lindalou, I know how you feel, but it sounds like you've achieved loads, so a well earned flop!
Hi all,
I've not been about for a few days; I finished my chapter and sent it to sup, then had a long weekend with family. But I need to get cracking now. Next job is to start writing my findings chapters, which seems very daunting. I'm not sure whether I'm going to try and plan them, or whether to just get stuck into writing based on the analysis tables I have (it's all qualitative).
Hope everyone is doing well!
Hi all
Good luck with the analysis chapters Button, it's something I'm not looking forward to writing myself.
I'm struggling to make progress today, feel like I'm just tinkering at the edges of my research rather than getting on with it. So maybe this afternoon I'll think about my analysis and plan out my next steps. And actually get on with it!
