I overslept this morning so am only really settling to work now. Never mind, I'll just work into the evening to make up for it. Plan for today (once I've properly woken up!) is to go through notes from meeting about journal article and address each point one by one. Hopefully that will get the bulk of the rewriting done on it. Really not 'feeling' it today, I think because I want to be back at my PhD data, so I need to stop procrastinating and actually get this work done and out of the way!

I'm sure you've been asked before Button, I think it was a while back, maybe even on this thread! How did you get VIP status? Just out of curiosity?

I wish I was still asleep to be honest but I've got a busy couple of days and I knew if I didn't get these marks done it would only annoy me later in the week!

I'm doing okay really, but writing my findings involves a LOT of thinking which is hard work for me!

I've just found out that I've been accepted to present at my first conference, woohoo! Scared though!

My goal today is to crack on with the next section of my findings chapter. I'm finding it a real struggle to stay focused on it though.

I need to get my chapter wrapped up today, so that's going to be my goal today. I also have long distance supervision with another member of my team today to get feedback on another chapter so that will be interesting, although I hope it's not all bad because I feel very fragile and precious about my work at the moment (as those who have read the thread I posted on Monday will know!)

Today, I need to crack the rewriting of this journal article. I can't really spare any more time on it after today so I need to make good progress. I did manage to figure out exactly what I need to do to it yesterday so hopefully I can get it done today.

I have until end of play tomorrow to wrap up one of my chapters...going on holiday on friday so need it done so i can not worry about it next week. Got 3 sections to write today then tomorrow have an awful day of more stats and 5 sections to write...its going to be a long day !!!

Nice one on the abstract acceptance..got one to write myself over the next couple of weeks - could be my last conference before I finish!

Good afternoon! Thanks for your kind words Batfink, it actually went a lot better than I thought it would so that's cool! I just keep making stupid mistakes when I'm writing, like typos, not double checking Word's tendency to auto correct or using weak language! I suppose this is all part and parcel though, we are supposed to be learning after all! I find it really easy to explain what I mean when I'm talking out loud, I just find it hard to get it onto the page!

Hope you're all making good progress today, I've "finished" my chapter so I'm just going to re-read it now (checking for all the things I've mentioned above!) then leave it for a couple of days. I'm going to do some PhD admin afterwards if I get time as tomorrow's looking quite busy now and I don't know if I'll get a chance!

Oh, that's good news Lindalou, sounds pretty positive. The weak writing thing keeps tripping me up - my supervisors always talk about thesis writing being about eliminating the weak spots that can be pulled up in a viva rather than focusing on the strengths. Generally I'm not too bad, but there's also usually something that I should have been more vigilant about - hopefully that develops with time, it's one of the things we're learning on our PhD after all.

I've made some progress on the journal article, but got sidetracked by email exchanges about data analysis with another PhD student and our shared supervisor, and having to read some bits to contribute my thoughts to the conversation. All useful stuff, so I'm not really annoyed that it's delayed the journal article writing. In fact, it's made me more determined to finish this today so I can get on with the data stuff tomorrow!

Sounds like you've had a productive day then Batfink! I re-read my chapter and it now looks and reads much better, so I'm hoping it will be met with approval when I send it off to DoS next week! I'm putting it to one side now though before I start nitpicking and going mad!

I managed to get all my other admin done too which is a bonus as I'm out all day tomorrow and Friday! So all in all, a (up) day!

Hello folks - am posing because I need to get back to things after a three week break for a marking mountain and after meeting a very nice man and doing some dreamy courting. So now I have to focus...

Tomorrow I will get to the bottom of a key article for my thesis and unpick it ready to write a throrough critique. I will do this first thing in the morning before anything else. I will not watch telly or dream or skype or anything similar.
