Ooh aren't we all busy bees! I'm having a ridiculously productive day today, I've got my mojo back so I'm making the most of it by getting on with chapter 7! I am going to have some lunch in a minute, no chocolate for me though sadly as I'm only a month away from my wedding now and I'm having mild concerns about not fitting into my dress on the day! I don't really fancy magic pants (ok, this is off topic so I'll stop now!)
Back on PhD relatedness.... I've achieved Goal 2 and Goal 3, but I'm going to keep going whilst I'm feeling in the mood for writing! (up)
I'm figuring that if I can get the chapter into a reasonable state then I can put it to one side for a few days and come back to it refreshed to check for spelling, punctuation, grammar etc so this is the plan!
Ha, I've already eaten way too much chocolate today! Especially bad as I can only go swimming once this week instead of the usual twice. Oh well.
Sounds like we're all being very productive. I just did the first pilot test of my interview questions and have no revisions to make to the questions (a miracle!) so once I've had a sandwich for lunch (and no more chocolate!) I can get on with goal 4. Excellent!
You can do it Button! One you get started you'll be halfway through before you know it!
Sounds like you've been busy too Batfink!
Ah the joys of the one goal thread! (up) Good work today everyone!
hehe that made me chuckle, yes I think printing it out counts :p
Well I'm up early again, unfortunately I do work best first thing in the morning however much I enjoy sleeping! I would love to get Chapter 7 into a state where I can leave it for a few days today so that's the "one goal" really.
The one good thing about being up early is that I can finish earlier in the day, so at least whilst it's sunny and lovely outside I don't mind too much!
Hope you all have a good day ;-)
Printing out is necessary preparation work :-)
It may be lovely and sunny out there, but it's also really cold - or it is round here! I'm shivering already and I've only been at my desk less than half an hour.
I made reasonable progress yesterday. Today is a similar day - meeting someone at lunchtime to run a pilot version of my interview questions, so before then I want to get some statistical analysis done, and actions afterwards will depend on how much revision my questions need.
Ooh well good luck Batfink, the testing of the questions, exciting! Conducting my interviews was my favourite part, I really felt like I was actually doing something productive! Hope it all goes well! And don't worry Button, it takes a few days for me after a holiday to get back into the swing of things, you'll get there (up)
I'm doing ok today but nowhere near as fast as yesterday - I've hit a grey area where I need more research and the university library system isn't working today, ARGH! Why is it always on the day where you really want to get on with some proper work?! I'm trying to bypass it by going straight to the source but it's a real pain as I can't even see which database supplies the access to the journals today! So expect to see me on here today begging for references ;-)
Oh how annoying Linda, I hate it when technology slows you down! Batfink sounds like you're doing great, I also loved doing my interviews!
Well I am ashamed to say that I'm on my second brew of the day, I have eaten a mars bar by 9:30am, and I STILL haven't looked at my presentation! I will do this, and I will not post again until I've done something productive!
I'm hitting the wall today again so I think it may be time for me to put this blinking chapter away for a few days and come back to it when I'm feeling less annoyed about it and when the stupid library system is working again! I could really do with a mars bar now, hehe!
Don't be tempted by the choccie Linda, remember the wedding dress hehe! You must be getting really excited!
Well I have actually made progress with my presentation, hooray, thank goodness for mytomatoes! I always do this; it takes me ages to actually 'start' something for whatever reason, but then once I get on with the task it's not half as bad as I thought it would be!
I am excited yes, but it's also so close now that I'm getting nervous too! Eek!
Good on you for getting going Button, I know exactly what you mean, I had the same thing as you yesterday. I'm getting so fed up with writing this chapter now that I was dreading opening it yesterday but once I got going I found I got quite a lot done quite quickly!
Well the good news is, I've managed to get the chapter into a state where I can now leave it alone for a few days, HURRAH! It's less words than I was aiming for originally but they don't want 80,000 words with 10000 of waffle when they could have 70,000 of good quality work right?! (Or am I kidding myself?!)
So I'm now going to sign off and go and get some food shopping done (oh how glamorous!) and I will be back on later to sort out my references and have a play with some of my diagrams.
Hello,
Well I'm all finished with work for now, chapter 7 is ready to be put to bed for a few days, references done and everything! Thank goodness! I much prefer getting up earlier and finishing earlier so I must try and keep it up, but easier said than done! I am going to do a bit of work tonight so it's not completely over sadly!
Anyway, hope you're all having an excellent day, see you tomorrow!
Well done, Lindalou, sounds like great progress.
My test interview went well, and I only need to slightly tweak one question and I'm ready for the next test interview on Thursday. Yay. So now I'm back to data analysis - I ran a PCA analysis on one sample this morning and would love to be able to do the same analysis on my other two samples, but that might be pushing it, we'll see how far I get.
Tomorrow is a day of seminars and stuff so no chance of doing anything then - but it does mean I get to have a lie-in and also go swimming before the first seminar - that's not bad!
