Sounds like it has been a successful day all round for us, even me! I have managed to completely edit my conference presentation, just need to produce a handout thing for it, think of any possible questions I may be asked, and also need to time it again!
That's me done for the day too, see you tomorrow Linda, and Batfink hope the seminars etc aren't too depressing tomorrow!
Good morning all!
Temptation to stay in bed and sleep was HIGH this morning, but here I am!
Good to see we're all being very productive! Glad your test interview went well Batfink, and you managed to get your presentation edited Button! I re-worked a diagram last night with the help of my fiance (he's much more logical than me!) so I will be attempting to put that into my chapter today!
Goal 1: Insert new diagram into Chapter 7
Goal 2: Go over methodology
Goal 3: Create an agenda for next team supervision
I think that will keep me sufficiently busy!
Have a great day everyone, see you later!
Hi Linda!
I slept in until 8am, that's a lie in for me!
I must get cracking on todays work.
Goal 1- practice presentation 1
Goal 2- finish final edit of conference presentation and time
Goal 3- send conference presentation to sup for comments
I'm hoping to get this all done this morning, because I desperately need to go food shopping, but before I can go I need to work out what healthy foods I need to buy for my new diet, eugh!
Good luck today all!
Hi Button! Well done on getting Goal 1 done!
It's so strange because when I was working full time I started work at 8am every day so I was getting up at 6.30/7am, it's only since I've been working from home that I started to lapse! I'm really going to try and keep up the early starts though because I have been mega productive this morning and have achieved all three of my goals. I'm going to have some lunch now, I think I deserve it!
Eek food shopping, I don't particularly like food shopping that much. I don't mind if I'm doing a specific one but I hate doing a "big" shop where you buy loads of stuff, I find the whole experience very stressful! I should totally do online shopping instead! What is this diet you're going to try? I am intrigued...! Does it involve lots of (sprout) ? hehe ;-)
I also benefit from the early starts; I'm usually at my desk by 8, and easily finish my work by 5pm with a 90 min lunch (to eat as well as walk dog and play with her!) And that's with a couple of tea breaks in between!
Linda the diet I'm doing is Slimming World, seems pretty good as you can eat A LOT! I've done weightwatchers a couple of times (once very successfully, the second time disastrous) so thought I'd give it a bash!
I'm done for the day anyway, see you tomorrow!
Good morning!
I just feel so much more productive at this time of the day! And it's good training for my release back into the job market fast approaching!
Aah I really want a puppy dog but I'm not allowed one as we're in rented accomodation at the moment, I can't wait until we have a house of our own! I've never tried any dieting programmes before really, apart from the "breakfast cereal" one where you have two bowls for breakfast and lunch and then a normal tea. Although I usually crack after a few days when I'm starving and in the supermarket where there is cake and large chocolate bars! Do let me know how you find the diet though, I am intrigued to try a proper one. It's too late for the wedding now but I do have the big honeymoon coming up in a few months so I might give a diet a try after the wedding!
Anyway! Here are my goals for today:
Goal 1: Email Sup 1 and ask for their advice on chapters - I'm thinking of splicing a few
Goal 2: Check references
Goal 3: Move on to Chapter 1
I know it seems odd that I'm going back to Chapter 1 after writing 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 but I wrote chapters 1 & 2 in my first year so they're drafts rather than "from scratch" so I have less to do on them!
Have a great day everyone!
Good morning!
I'm always really productive when I make a really early start too, there's something so encouraging about demolishing a load of work before it's even properly got past a reasonable hour to eat breakfast!
Late out of bed this morning though. I was on campus until late yesterday for various seminars, but I'd forgotten that the bus had switched to vacation timetable, and I missed the last bus, so had to walk all the way to the station. I tried to follow a shortcut someone had told me about, but must have gone wrong because it took over an hour! And then I had to wait an hour for the next train, so I was really late home. And I'd been swimming that morning so was also completely exhausted! Hence a lie-in this morning....
Goals for today:
1.) Consider revising questions before next test interview
2.) Carry out test interview
3.) Roughly analyse results of two test interviews conducted so far
4.) Do some annoying admin type jobs
5.) If there's any time left, carry on with statistical tests I was running on Tuesday
Hello Batfink, sounds like another busy day for you! I hate doing admin type stuff too, I know it has to be done but still!
I've achieved Goals 1 & 2 so far today which is good, hurray!
Just going to get on with Goal 3 now, but I might have a tea break before I do!
Well done Lindalou, sounds like you're making progress!
I've been hit by lethargy and tiredness. I've done my test interview, and thinking about it I know I'm getting roughly the kinds of answers I want. Would it be wrong to just take the afternoon off? Hmm, tempting...
Did a bit more work, and I suppose I do feel better for having done it. And now I'm quitting for the day! Time to watch crap TV and play computer games and do laundry. Rock and roll!
Totally not wrong at all, sometimes we all need a few hours off! I started sifting through a chapter this afternoon but I wasn't really getting anywhere so had a break instead! I have some of my best ideas when I'm away from my desk anyway, and I return refreshed & ready to crack on (most days anyway! Not today though!)
Hope you had a relaxing afternoon!
Tomorrow (Friday) I will finish my report re-write and email it to supervisor so she can give feedback so I can work on it again ready for Tuesday group presentation.
I will not put off doing report because I know supervisor will come back with something that needs redoing and I am lazy.
(Last time did report at last minute before presentation - thought it was brilliant - didn't show supervisor cos I didn't want to hear it wasn't brilliant - so supervisor did not see report until after I had presented it to another group - supervisor not a happy bunny because report had a squillion and one faults:-()
Today I'm going to finish the paper draft I've been working on and give it to my supervisor to look at. I'm mostly happy with it so far - there's just one really tricky section I haven't quite cracked yet. If I can get that done by lunchtime I'll be a happy little human.
Morning all,
I wasn't around yesterday as I had a big important presentation to do; it went really well, and the person I desperately wanted to impress said she was really impressed, and said my presentation style is great! So that's good news.
I'm also off to take a lecture this afternoon so shouldn't be around much today, then it's off out for tea with hubs tonight!
Linda, just wanted to add; we have a puppy and we rent :) although they are VERY hard work, you wouldn't believe it until you got one! Definitely prepared me for having children, although I guess I won't be able to go out and leave a baby at home, like I can do with puppy!
Goal 1- email presentation from yesterday
Goal 2- email E
Goal 3- journal
