Ooh Linda, good luck today, that's so exciting! Maybe you should just make some notes about the things you've been thinking, so you can put it all out of your mind while you're away?
I didn't finish rewriting the conclusions of my journal article yesterday, I hit a block so swapped to reading for the last hour or so of work. So today I ansolutely have to finish the conclusions and send it to my co-authors - I'd like to do that by lunchtime, and then make a start on identifying themes in my interview this afternoon.
And then it'll be the weekend. Yay!

I've finally managed to conquer goal 1, hurray! Sooooo glad to have got that done!
I know the feeling well Batfink, I regularly hit the wall with pieces of work and it is best to leave them for a bit if that happens. You'll get it done, sometimes I sit here thinking "where do I start?!" but once I've started typing I find that I've made inroads and then it gets easier.
Thanks for the advice both of you, I think I've done enough to leave a trail for myself. I hope!
I am ridiculously excited now but I've also got that slightly sicky nervous feeling! I'm going to pop out in a minute for a little while to get some fresh air whilst it's nice and sunny outside. Hope you're both having a good day so far 8-)
I'm doing well; done all of section 7.1 and it's related sub-sections.
Goal 2- edit section 7.2
Goal 3- summary of chapter
I'm hoping to get the above goals done before lunch, which will mean I will have finished editing all of my four findings chapters woohoo! That'll mean that on Monday I can get going with adding in all the links to existing literature, exciting stuff.
I think that's all I'll do today; need to go to the doctors, the gym and then to town for my spice rack (little things please small minds and all that) so I may not be back on until Monday.
So on that note; Batfink have a great weekend, and Linda have an absolutely fantastic fandabbydosey wedding and honeymoon!!! Looking forward to hearing about it when you get back, enjoy every single second!!!!!
Thanks Button, glad to hear you're doing well! I'm going to give it a rest after I've finished sending everything off as I have really lost the ability to concentrate properly now!
Have a great two weeks everyone, I will see you when I get back!
:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x
Oh, have a fantastic time, Lindalou, hope it's all as wonderful as you imagine.... So happy for you! (up)
And Button, hope you have/had a good weekend too, we'll have to keep each other going until Lindalou returns!
Phew, finally finished my bit of rewriting on the journal article. It's taken me over two days when I thought it'd take a morning. Just goes to show. I did do some other bits in that time too, so it's not as bad as it sounds, but all the same - phew!
I should press on with more work, but I really can't be arsed now. So that's it until tomorrow. And it's nearly pub o'clock!
Morning!
Very jealous that Linda will be doing last minute wedding preparations, and I'm back here!
Anyway, today I start the dreaded task of making links to previous lit within my findings chapters (I'm combining my findings and discussion chapters). I'm not sure about the best way to do that, so I think that will take a while, and then hopefully I'll be able to get going! Hubby isn't home from work until 8.30pm tonight (down) but it will give me more time to work if needs be.
Goal 1- read MA diss re refs to previous lit
Goal 2- read findings chapter 1
Goal 3- plan how to make refs to previous lit
Goal 4- to discussion section of findings chapter 1
Morning Button! I have the same slightly miffed feeling... but hopefully it's all going well for her!
Today I'm conducting my final two interviews. One done this morning, which went very well, and then one this afternoon. It's made the day very bitty and disjointed, so in between I'm just doing some admin type jobs. An easy day really. Back to proper work tomorrow!
Good luck with your work, sounds like proper brainwork (but also the kind that will be satisfying to have made a good start on).
Good luck with the interview this afternoon Batfink! It'll be great once you've done them all. I'm afraid I'm not making much progress. The only thing I've done is read my discussion chapter of my MA diss, and read through the first findings chapter making a few minor edits. I've also briefly looked at my lit review, and quickly decided to stop reading!
I'm going to try and plan a system of adding in the refs to previous lit (I'm VERY logical unfortunately and have to have a system!) then I'll have lunch and hopefully get cracking this afternoon.
The last interview yesterday was ... interesting. Let's just say the person I was interviewing was not the sharpest tool in the box. And he couldn't half talk! I dumped half my questions and it still took twice as long as all the other interviews! Oh well, it's all over now, and apart from some follow-up interview/discussions with a couple of key people in the organisations I'm studying I won't have to do any more.
Anyway, I only have two goals for today. The first was to go swimming, which I've done. The second is to carry on with identifying themes from my interview transcripts. (I'm on campus today, so I'm saving transcribing the final two interviews for when I work from home tomorrow.)
Hope your day goes well!
Oh dear, interviews like that are very frustrating!
I haven't actually done anything today :$ I was at the hairdressers this morning, and just got back from a really big walkie with puppy which was nice. I've now just sat down at my desk though and I'm shattered! So I may take the day off and get cracking tomorrow.
That sounds like a very good plan! Hope it refreshes you for tomorrow!
I've just done a huge spider diagram of the major themes I've identified from my interview schedule and two sample interviews - scary! There's so much there, it's a bit daunting, and that's only on one very quick go-through, if I look closer I'll find masses more stuff I'm sure. Not entirely sure how I'm going to distill this all down, but we'll see how it goes!
So I did have the rest of the day off yesterday and feel much better for it now! So I'm ready to crack on.
Goal 1- go through remaining findings chapters and sort tense out
Goal 2- put key points from all findings chapters into big table, ready to link to previous lit
This will take me all day I expect.
I know what you mean about so many key points Batfink; I have loads, all of which feel SO important, and having to get rid of them doesn't bear thinking about!
Yeah, I'm hoping a narrative will emerge and enable me to dump a few of them without fear!
Glad the day off helped. Good luck today!
My work goal for the day is to transcribe my final two interviews. I also need to clean the bathroom and do some sorting out in the kitchen - my parents are visiting on Monday and the place is a tip, and also I am supposed to be moving in about 3 weeks so I'd better be ready for that!
