Thank you Button :-)
Oh dear about the raspberries though! I went to the supermarket and bought some fancy chocolate to cheer myself up, I'm having to restrain myself from eating it all because it will make me feel ill (it's one of those flavoured, labelled high cocoa chocolate brands). Well done on achieving your goal!
Mmmmmmmm chocolate.... Sometimes it's all I can find that will get me through the day!
Hope the bad news wasn't anything too bad, Linda.
I'm failing to get much work done today. There are workmen sanding the windows and hammering and it's driving me crackers. I think I need to go for a walk in the sun to cheer myself up, and hopefully they'll have finished, or moved to another part of the building, when I get back!
Don't say the word chocolate, I'm still on a diet!!!
I've finally done the reference list for my journal article, what a faff that was! Having to move full stops and commas and allsorts of ridiculous things to make it in line with the journal's referencing style, what a bore!
I'm now off to have lunch and then I'll get cracking with goal 3.
Good luck all!
Chocolate is definitely a saviour!!!
Sooooooooooooo I have finally completed my first draft, 7 chapters in total, sent everything to my supervisors. I have some more preliminary results of another study which might have to be included. But I am very happy that I have come this far which I never thought I would! Mine is probably the worst first draft ever written but oh well, “there is no such thing as writing, only rewriting”!! Here is a link which might be useful: http://thesiswhisperer.com/2011/03/24/how-to-write-1000-words-a-day-and-not-go-bat-shit-crazy/
I have also drafted a journal article which is one of the chapters ;-) I still have a looooooooong way to go though!!!
Good luck girls!!!!!!! (I guess we are all girls here for now, aren't we? if I may ask)
Morning all,
Well done for all those who achieved their goals yesterday - I managed to get my nightmare chapter finished on Weds so I had the day off from my computer yesterday, rearranged the office, spent the day mooching round town and catching up on household bits and bobs. Today though, it's back to it with a vengence!
Today's goals are:
1. Read over chapter from weds and correct any obvious grammar/spelling errors
2. Make a list of changes that need to be made to chapter 4
3. Start restructuring chapter 4
I hope you all have good days today - Linda, I'm sorry to hear about your bad news yesterday and I hope the chocolate helped - I know it always makes me feel a bit better!
Morning all!
Today I am not going to do any writing, instead I will be focussing on my simulations and also will have to get couple of other things sorted with my calculations. Also, I will copy paste some sections from one of the chapters to make a first draft of another journal article. I will be submitting 2 journal articles hopefully soon.
Have a productive day every one (up)
I have got some issues with the simulations, have written to the IT person and working on it based on his suggestions. Meanwhile, I managed to sort of get the rough drafts of the papers ready, one with 3438 words and the other with 3901 words. Both of them need quite a lot of polishing which I will do later. I got to check some of my calculations.

Decided to tackle 'the main message of my thesis' which sup wanted me to do...that was fun, not! Now going to have an early lunch before moving onto 'original contribution' section of my discussion chapter, that's even worse!
Not sure if anyone's about but morning if you are!!
I made really good progress with my main discussion chapter yesterday...so much so that I nearly have a complete first draft, just 2 more sections to write! So hubby is working for a couple of hours this morning, so thought I might as well do the same and get this chapter finished!
Goal 1- write section 8
Goal 2- write section 9
Then we're spending the whole weekend packing to move, what fun!

Hi Button (and everyone who is around),
Morning! I am here, will be starting in couple of hours (having a pretty laid back start today) :-)
Well done on completing the discussion chapter already!! Good luck with the moving, hope it goes well for you (up)
Goal 1 - Buy buss pass
Goal 2 - Work on simulations.
Goal 3 - Check calculations.
Goal 4 - Buy hiking boots (going on a trip to Scotland in July, can't wait) and back pack
I will get these 4 done and then see what I can do after that. Have a nice day!!!
Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a great weekend, we had some sunshine here which was nice for a change! Hope you are all getting on well with your work. Today I am mostly getting on with amending my chapter, I can't believe how quickly time is flashing past! I think time definitely speeds up the closer you get to the end of your three years!
Have a good day everyone (up)
Morning all!
Well I got my chapter finished so don't have an awful lot to do this week (except packing my life up into lots of boxes!) But I think I'm going to do a plan for another journal article I'd like to write, and also sort work for my review in a few weeks. Sup is then phoning for a meeting this evening.
Goal 1- go to post office
Goal 2- plan journal article
Goal 3- sort work for review and print
Goal 4- prepare for supervision meeting
Goal 5- packing etc
Good luck today everyone!
