Batfink27, congratulations for the interview!
I designed a series of tests to resolve an issue, and the first test gave out good results. I am happy about that.
As I might not be able to approach internet tomorrow morning, I will state my goal:
1. read about vector orthogonalization.
2. try Mr. benyaya's suggestion.
3. document the tests.
Morning all!
Well, I now have a complete first draft of my thesis, yippee! But I can't hand it in to sup for a few weeks as she's away, so I'm going to spend this time working on another journal article. I also need to prepare for a conference I'm presenting at in a couple of weeks, and I need to do a job application
Goal 1- check conference presentation and print
Goal 2- practice presentation
Goal 3- decide which journal my article will be suitable for
Goal 4- start job application
Goal 5- start planning article
Good luck today all!
Ooh, well done Button, that's a great milestone to reach!
And thanks Skig and Benyaya, finegrs crossed the interview goes well.
I've been swimming again this morning (third time this week ) - it really does make me feel much more alert, so I think I'm going to try to keep to the three sessions a week (I used to only do two).
I made good progress on my journal article yesterday, so I'm going to continue with that this morning, and then this afternoon I'll go back to the data analysis and try to solve the thing that I got stuck on yesterday. I'm working through the weekend (MrBatfink has gone camping with friends) so I just want to keep going steadily like this for the next few days.
Well done Button (on your first draft) and Batfink (swimming/being so productive!).
I ended up changing my goals once I opened my inbox as there were things there that required some immediate attention. But at least they're done now.
Today hasn't been the most productive day but I've been able to finalise my poster and sort out a few things. I need to think about when to start my mat leave though... any suggestions?
Heh, I'd be tempted to start the maternity leave tomorrow, but that just shows how lazy I am underneath it all!
Didn't get to my data analysis today but I did make good (but slow) progress on my journal article so not going to beat myself up about that. I'm going to do another half an hour of work and then meet some friends down the pub. I feel like I need the break!
Have a good weekend everyone! (And maybe see some of you here tomorrow...)
Ooh Skig when is your baby due? Exciting!
Well done Batfink, enjoy the pub!
I'm also done for the day, and am shortly off to the cinema with hubby to see Ted, yippee. I got all my goals done (including finishing and sending my job application) except for practicing my conference presentation. I've still got time though, and I may have a look at it tomorrow afternoon whilst hubby is out.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Morning everyone (well, it's still just about morning!)
Ended up having a late night with my friends last night, so I'm only just sitting down to work now. Oh well, I needed the break!
Today I will finish rewriting my journal article, and will also research some stuff to fill a gap in my background chapter.
Hi Batfink and Button,
I am also here with several hours behind you guys. I need to see sup this afternoon, so will work for three to four hours today. Its nice to have somebody to work together on Saturday morning, even though on the other end of internet.
Skig, I think how to arrange mat leave depends pretty much on the policy of your sup/school/company. I am not sure how the law is in UK, here in US, we don't have law to guarantee mat leave with pay. 'how long is a mat leave', 'can we have a mat leave or not', those questions all depend on the sup's attitude and style a lot.
my goal today:
1. write numerical cases;
2. do other modeling method.
Morning everyone!
I had to wade through the forum spam to find this thread today!
Hope you all had a great weekend. I'm working on my conference presentation and journal article all this week, nothing else really.
Goal 1- practice presentation
Goal 2- start planning article.
Good luck today all!
Morning!
I've been swimming again this morning so am feeling alert and tired at the same time.
My plan for today is to start the day working on my data analysis - I really need to get past the block I have about this method - and then this afternoon start filling in some gaps in my background chapter.
Eugh, I'm having one of those completely unmotivated days today. I've managed to go through my presentation which I'm happy about, but I don't know if I can face planning this journal article, as I've got other stuff on my midn (nothing serious!)
I'm having an early lunch and then will have a brief look at my journal article plan, before maybe giving up.
Good morning!
Button, baby is due mid-October :)
Benyaya - I suspect different unis may have different policies. I'm lucky that I've got very supportive sups so I doubt I'll have any problems. It's more a question of how much longer can I work for.
I can't believe it's lunchtime already! Where did the time go? Erm, I've not done much apart from admin so that's not great news for the thesis.
I got some feedback from sup on poster. So I'll need to edit that and look into my article. This has taken long enough so I'm determined to get it out of the way today!
Have a productive day everyone!

Afternoon everyone,
Skig, mid-October is almost there, looking forward....
I showed some positive results to my sup on Saturday, he was happy about it, but still not very sure about my method. He need one more method to justify it. My work has always been questioned by my sup, and I am troubled by these doubts. Anyway, will think about one more method to resolve the problem today.
We bought a small lovely camping tent yesterday, will try to set it up today. :-)
