I need a kick up the bum today. Went for a run, so started work late, did some teaching prep and then wasted most of the morning panicking because I found out there might have been issues with claiming back some expenses (all sorted now).
Just got back from lunch and voting and need to get on with things this afternoon.
My goal is to do enough so that by 6pm I feel satisfied with my afternoon's progress with a particular section I am writing.
I spent a couple of hours this morning trying to fix my internet connection at home but failed miserably - It was working fine yesterday :-s
Thus far today I have met with someone to discuss some lab work that I want to make a start on. Yay!!
I was going to spend today looking at models which I don't really understand but I have just come across a 4 year old thesis that looks like it could be very useful so I think I'm going to spend the day reading that.
Goal 2 - read thesis
Incidentally, how different does your work need to be from somebody elses to count as an original contribution to knowledge?? The thesis I just found looks at a broad family of materials (my material is in that family) in a similar way to which I have been intending to look at my chosen material. Essentially they are trying to answer the same question about a group of materials as I am about my specific material. Is this bad? Should I be panicking??
did you try and turn the router on and off again? Mine often goes funny and that fixes it.
My sup just emailed!!!! ARRRRGH I have to get this work done now!
Yep did the on-off trick alright Sneaks but no joy :-(
I'll just have to hope the bf can fix it tonight - he loves messing around with those kinds of things - I on the otherhand have absolutely no patience for it :$
GRR stupid council! My hubby didn't live in our house for most of last year and I told council he had just moved back in a few weeks ago. But they've charged us council tax from june last year, because that's when we got married. Apparently if one of us lives somewhere its a 'matimonial home' and therefore we owe tax on it :-( That's rubbish! I mean we don't even have joint bank accounts, yet because I'm married to him I have to pay tax. GRRR.
(he lived with his mum so he could travel to work - not because of a huge argument or anything! ;-) )
Morning,I did not finish my goals yesterday. I slept very early, because I fought with my husband. Simply because I offered my friend to give him a ride after the course. So my husband became very angry and shouted at me. Although he does that with his girlfriends thousand times. Really I started to hate men.OOOOFFFFFF
Goal 1 Reading a case and writing about it
Hi all,
I need a kick up the bum today. I am slightly hungover and tired after election drinks and getting up early to teach this morning. My goal for today is to read a few articles and become familiar with a particular area.
Transcribe two interviews. Ambitious because one of my interviewees has a very strong Newcastle accent (which I like by the way) and speaks really fast. Pffffff...
ok, I've got my chapter done, just need to read and proof it and fix up the structuring...it's hard to find a way for all the tables and graphs to fit nicely in along with the text instead of spreading across pages or leaving big gaping holes! So plus one point. However, I topped off the evening with (yet another) row with the boyf. getting bloody fed up with it. ah hoo!! hope everyone else's friday night is going ok!!
