I also need to acquire some pens!
Right- goal 2 is done. Feeling like my chapter is starting to take shape now, albeit very slowly. Running out of steam a bit with it today though. I have a key paper which I only just got hold of to read, so this is goal number 3.
whoo! ok I've finally done my article, so that's Tuesday and Wendesday's goal finally done! Well, it's the first decent draft, my sup has it now and we shall both be making changes to it before long I suspect! But the worst is done! It's amazing how cutting and pasting a (slightly related) chunk of text that you've written before helps break the writers block...makes me feel like I'm nearly finished really, so it's not too bad, and before I know it I've changed it all to something resembling what actually I want!
Glad to hear the dog is feeling better sneaks and that you're not a pyschopath! :-) And don''t put too much pressure on yourself Teek, you'll get there, the bad phase will pass. As for parents....my mum almost killed my dad last week when I was home. She'd asked how things were going so I was saying I've got 4 months to submit and my dad started going on about how the pressure's on now and I've got to put in the hours and do what needs done etc...like I didn't know! :-)
Goal for today - go home and eat! Have to kill another 15 minutes in lab before I can do that, arghh!
Phew, almost hit today's goal. Have a sizeable list of things to include when I start writing the next section tomorrow. I was going to starts putting them into a sensible structure tonight but I'm tired now so maybe that can wait until I'm more alert!
Hope there's something decent-but-rubbish on TV, I need to just stare at something that doesn't involve brain power for an hour or so!
2/3 of my cognitive interview data analysis done - will be finished tomorrow, along with the final redraft of my questionnaire.
Have to start a presentation for a research seminar tomorrow as well.
Well done all, sounds like we are very productive at the mo. I know I've got better since it got a bit colder, the election stuff finished and I got a load of my analysis out the way (up)
My sup wanted the writing to her this morning, so I have 2 hours to write a discussion to get to her! So todays goals
Goal 1: Write discussion
Goal 2: Put together presentation for Monday
Goal one: work out the structure of what I need to write for the rest of my Methodology paper. I feel pumped and ready for action! Just hope that feeling lasts!
Woo - I have finished Goal 1! well in so far as I have finished as much as I can be bothered to do and sent it to sup, based on the fact she will have probably forgotten what she asked me to do AND the paper is already 3k words over what any journal will take.
So going to walk my poorly dog once round a small field behind my house, and then onto TEA and then goal 2!
Just had the email I have been dreading all week - to say whether the moderator thought my marking was ok, and overall yes, there were a few she changed and I will go in on Monday to have a look at those. I'm quite relieved and I was unknowingly stressing about this if that makes sense.
I also had news of our uni postdoc fellowship scheme today which I've forwarded onto my sup, so maybe things are looking up! Feeling positive for a change. (Cue angry sup email about something to bring me crashing down!)
GRRR I've got my annual review presentation on Monday, so trying to get together the powerpoint now, so can practice over the weekend. Problem is we are given 15 mins! And now I am in my 3rd year that's extremely short, considering i have to introduce the literature/background, and the rationale, method and findings from 3 studies! Plus talk about conferences, and publications I have done in the last year and talk about time frames for completions ARRRRGH!
Data matrices all done. Took me longer than expected, so I'll have to flippin' well get the questionnaire redrafted tomorrow and get working on that presentation for my research seminar. Looks like I'll be missing Britain's Got Talent then...:-(
Today's goals:
1.) Go through the notes I made months ago and decide what's still relevant to the study.
2.) Write up those notes into something sensible!
3.) Keep writing! I need to make substantial progress today...
I haven't posted on here for a while because I have been running trying to get practical things set up - so some progress was made this week in that regard but a conversation with a postdoc in the department has led me to realise that I have been putting all of my energy into doing the work I contractually have to do for my sponsors (the results of which will hopefully be useful somewhere in my PhD - where, I don't yet know) and have neglected to work on my PhD in any real way. So he reckons that I may be in quite a bit of trouble in that regard. So I am very worried and panicked but instead of sitting at home fretting I have come into the office today to start some basic internet searches to hopefully give me some ideas as to what the subject of my PhD will be.
Goal 1: read relevant part of the thesis that might spark some ideas
