of course it's a beautiful day outside, I am so going to have a proper summer next year...

Phew, I've just been swimming and it's filled me with energy. I now have seven and a half hours to finish my paper - I am ready for action! Off I go....

S

Morning all. Right, I need to make myself accountable and set out what I'm going to do before I get tired and lazy this afternoon.

Goal 1: Teach 2 tutorials
Goal 2: Put finishing touches to document for supervision tomorrow and email to supervisor
Goal 3: Make a decent start on a particular section of my chapter. This is going to be tough. The deadline is looming and I feel like all of my writing is crap.

Well I've done goal 3 and I've taken dog to the vets. She's been ill for about 7 days now, so was getting a bit worried. Verdict was wait another two days (this cost £30!) and then if she's still bad bring her back for tests (which will cost £80). I'm starting to think that my decision to do an undergrad, masters and PhD i.e. 7 years of education, was flawed and I should have done vetinary training, as at the mo I'm looking for ANY job that's better than min wage. And I've just paid this bloke £30 to say, "come back later" :-s Although to be fair, he did put a thermometer up the dogs bum :$ so I don't envy him too much (or the dog!).

Must do work..........................after lunch (turkey)

Hi everyone, I've not really been online much lately for various reasons but throwing myself into writing now, goal for today is to get my presentation plan (presentation next Wednesday) finished to discuss with tutor tomorrow.

Sneaks - I hope your dog starts to feel better soon, have you any indication of what is wrong with her? I'm surprised that your vet told you to come back in a few days, have you got antibiotics?

Hi natassia, good to see you online again!

My dog did a gross thing (probably TMI) and erm.....cleaned up after our cats in the garden :-s and now has tummy trouble - stupid dog. Anways, I've wormed her and I have this vet stuff which is essentially a pro-biotic and immodium in one, I already had it in my cupboard so he said he would have prescribed that if I hadn't have already had it (I like to play vets and have it all at home - seriously I can look up a vetinary book as well as the next PhD student!) But its been 7 days, so he said carry on with treating her with it and if its still bad come back and they will run tests cos it could be a parasite that is caused by something the wormer couldn't kill. Although I'm suspicious, I think she's putting it on, because she HAS to be on a diet of chicken and pasta (organic free range chicken and whole wheat pasta) until she's better, which she is LOVING.

Still haven't done goals 1 or 2 - I have read a book though (fiction :$ ) MUST PUT ON MUSIC AND OPEN SPSS.

Two hours till my deadline and I have one small(ish) section left to write and then my references etc to add in. I might just make it!

Well done Batfink!

I achieved all of my goals today. I made a start on the writing I have been putting off and will be ready to get on with it again tomorrow. I only managed 300 words but when I opened the document last week I had a complete block and couldn't manage anything, so it is progress!

I'm now going to mark 1 or 2 papers before finishing for the day and working out.

Sounds like you're making progress, star-shaped!

I've just sent off my paper to my supervisors. Yay! Huge relief. I can't quite believe I've managed it. My head is spinning now, and unfortunately I have a statistics evening class starting in 45 minutes so not much time to relax! Oh well, at least that horror's out of the way, until it gets torn apart in my supervision session on Monday.

I'm at a conference for the next three days. I thought it would be a bit of a skive, but they want us PhD students to facilitate some of the sessions, and it looks like the poster session will be more formal than I expcted too. Ah well, it's all good.

argh I got up at 6am today, walked the dog, washed 2 loads of clothes, have put the breadmaker on so I have fresh bread for lunch. I uninstalled SPSS and installed it again so I could start work. I fed the cats and the dog and loaded the dishwasher. I then made myself a cup of tea to start work (at 9am) and now its 10.25 its like I've been caught in a parrallel universe for an hour and a half. Must get OFF facebook and start work.

Goal 1: create dataset
Goal 2: Run descriptives.

Sneaks, hearing about your busy mornings makes me feel guilty! I was up quite early but spend too much time faffing around with getting ready!

Had a supervision meeting and dropped off some books at the library. The rest of the day's goals are:
1. Type up notes from supervision while it's fresh in my mind.
2. Lunch time meeting with the research group.
3. Make further progress on the section I started writing yesterday. Another 400 words would be good.

hmm, but I do have a lazy husband who needs his clothes washing etc. I've tried NOT doing them, for months, but he just ran out of clean clothers rather than washing them, so I had to do it! So I now give myself 6am-9am to do all the household work. We have a 3 bed house over 3 floors, so it can take ages to clean :-(

I've done a little bit of work so far, but I'm going to walk the dog again - she's looking grumpy.
