The One Goal Thread

I've been doing some number crunching and, so far though it's early days, my questionnaire scores correlate with existing, established questionnaire scores. So, that's good news. Watch it change after more data collection tomorrow though.

I had a lovely significant result after 150 participants, and I had to go and collect another 50 D'oh! its now non-significant! BOOOOO.

I'm waiting to hear from sup. In the meantime I will go through my paper that I want to submit for publication next week. Sup says I need to remove 90% of the refs. It appears I don't feel I can say something unless someone else has said it (Walminski 2010) and therefore I have far too many references (Supervisor, 2010). You get the idea.

I'm struggling with motivation at the moment - I hope joining in with this thread will help! I have got a supervision meeting next week and want (need!) to submit something for that today. It's very much a rough draft at the moment and needs a lot of 'tidying up'. I'm splitting it into 4 parts, so my first goal is to re-write part 1! I also need to put some ideas down for a poster - I've got a major block with this at the moment, I'm not quite sure how to approach it. I seem to completely lack confidence in what I have done so far, even though my supervisors really liked what I've written up to now and suggestested I put together a poster. It just doesn't feel good enough for a conference. Argh. Anyway, I'd better get on with the re-writing ...

So the first goal for today: re-write part 1. (robin)

Good luck Moonblue (is that a man city reference?)

My first goal is to look through the link Wal sent me on my stats thread.

Actually first goal is to check job sites and select which tunes I'm going to listen to today. THEN read Wals link

No, just an entirely random name. :-) I'm totally clueless when it comes to football (apart from understanding the offsite rule :-)), so I didn't even make the connection with Man City.

Finished part one of the re-write. (Part 3 actually, as it's easier than part 1...). Here is what I still need to do:

Re-writing:
-part 1,
-part 2,
-part 4;
-then go over the whole section again
-put a few ideas down for poster
- email to supervisors

:-)

Right, I've had enough of sitting aruond trying to find an answer that clearly isn't there! So am going to plough on with creating a new data set to analyse.

I have to go to the vets by 3pm today, so would be good to have all my datasets set up by then!

M

Right, part 2 completed, on to part 1. (Thanks to mytomatoes!)

Good luck at the vets, Sneaks.

Ta, I think its going to be very spensive :-( silly dog!

I've fallen into the trap of playing music while entering data - and now I have some kind of OCD/ridiculous made up rule in my head that my clicks of the mouse HAVE to fall on the beat.

M

Oh yes, dogs can be very expensive... Ours needed three operations (with general anaesthetic) during the first year we had her (old, rescued dog with lots of 'issues'). (robin) would be cheaper!

Finished part 1, now on to part 4. :-)

I woke up lazy today, so I decided not going to the library today. It was the worst decision, cause I have not read anything yet. I spent my time on net, phone and eating. and after 2 hours my super husband will come. oooofffff

Goal 1 reading a chapter in a book and take notes

M

I have finished re-writing the whole section and have done the references. I need to go over it again and then email it to my supervisors.

Getting there ...

Achieved the goal of doing some exercise - tried my first Body Jam class! Good but not as good as Zumba - that's great fun! I've organised my follow up study for Monday. Have decided to go to library tomorrow as want to get as much redrafting done as poss before sup meeting next week. Supposed to be gorgeous and sunny as well - need to watch that don't fall into the "I'll just study in the park" trap 8-). Have a lovely weekend everybody!

ooh I really want to try zumba. I'm not very coordinated though, and there doesn't seem to be a class in my area :-(

M

Yay, I've managed to get it all done. Didn't get much further with that poster though. :-(
