well I created another data set, which again shows NOTHING :-(
I think there are a few dodgy cases in my data though that are skewing my results - but can't work out a simple way of creating scatterplots to have a look - the variables/groups are quite complicated, so think I'm going to take some time to pop it over to excel, where I actually understand how to make the graph I want!
Morning Sarah!!
'tis terrible to be stuck inside on a day like this so my motivation to get my work done quickly is to spend the evening with b/f and dog in the park.
Today I want to make a start on a conference paper that's due in 7 weeks. It's my first one so I want to get started early.
Goal 1: spend an hour reading conference papers to get an idea of what I'm expected to produce
Goal 1 achieved - I have a very sketchy outline of the paper - just headings - nothing too detailed yet - it's made me realise that I have alot of decisions to make about my work before I can complete the paper - eeeeeekkkkkk!!!!!!!!
OK I've played around with my data - I now have to re-create the files I made last week. so that's todays goal! :-(
Had a really relaxed weekend (really needed the break after killing myself to hand in my Methodology last week) so now I'm taking ages to get into the work today! Oh well. Two goals for today: to write an outline of a journal article I'm supposed to be writing, and to meet my supervisors and get feedback on my Methodology. Not looking forward to that meeting!
well I've been on stats all weekend - just about got there with sorting the data, now I'm just trying to work out what test to do. I want my stats to be watertight, because I'm imagining a nasty external would look at stats as a first weak point.
My cats are giving me nightmares today. I've already had to pick up 2 dead mice in my garden, just been out for a dog walk, and come in to find my cat torturing a black bird in the hallway. Its still alive - but just, I tried to pick it up with a doggy bag and was just about to wring its neck when it ran off - out of the front door and I couldn't catch it - thing is its bleeding and has a wing broken I think, so won't last long - I feel really guilty now! :-( Stupid Cat :-s
As my sup won't get back to me about stats, I'm going to go through my journal today and remove references.
Had a bit of a manic day...I decided at midnight last night that I wanted to submit an abstract for a conference and the deadline was today...all a bit rushed but finally just got it finished and quite pleased with it considering...that's today's goal met!
Sx
Well done Sarah! I had a conference abstract I did a few weeks ago that was very rushed, last minute and had no results AND it got accepted! :p
Satchi - why has the week been rough? Set your goals and all will become clear (turkey)
My goals today:
Goal 1: Go to the vets
Goal 2: Set up ANOTHER dataset
Goal 3: Run stats on data set
Goal 4: change my CV
Morning Sneaks!
Satchi, I hope your week gets better...
Today's goal is to make a start on one of the mini-sections of my lit...I have an outline so it's just a question of filling it out. Hopefully it will be a productive day - at least the sun seems to have gone in so my office won't be like an oven!!
S xx
Morning peeps :)
started early (for me) today, I've identified three bugs in my code, so I shall be fixing that today. I am aware that it is very unlikely that these bugs would ever be found (only applies to very very rare cases) but knowing my luck, the examiners will find it!
Also meeting with sub, going to ask for a bi-weekly meeting from now on till the end of the year/thesis, as I'm finding it a really really good motivator to get stuff done!
Sneaks, I know what you mean about cats and birds, my younger one (but still about 10 years old) brought a baby rat in on the weekend, I was pathetic, all I could do was scream while partner picked it up with his bare hands. And I thought I was quite the as bold as a man type! :$
