Morning all. A bit of a late start today for me. I am so worn out after my weekend.
I have a pile of notes from the last couple of week's reading which need sorting out and putting into Zotero so that is my first goal today.
Morning!
Started early this morning (at my desk by 7.30) and making progress, but completely daunted by how much I have to do. Today's goals:
1.) Finishing writing up the Lit Review section of my upgrade report
2.) Edit this section down to about half the length (yikes!)
Morning all - hope the goals are going well.
my goal today was to survive a meeting about feedback on my first couple of chapters, but as my supervisor forgot I'll have to move onto something else. I don't know, do I count that as a completed goal today?:) I was ready after all!
My first goal is (finally) completed. I still need to update my 'quotes' document before I file away the papers but this will be goal number 3, which I will do after spending some time out in the sun reading a chapter from a book. There is so much literature I have to get to grips with at the moment. Ugh.
Goal one finally achieved. I'm so tired now! Looks like I have no chance of doing goal 2 today, but if I can just make a decent start on it I'll at least feel better. :-(
I scored one goal today. As per my earlier posts on this thread, I'm upto about 10 for the season. Strangely this goal scoring spree has coincided with my fitness levels improving drastically, which has coincided with the expiry of my bus pass and having to walk everywhere - hmmm.
I'm 24 tomorrow, so I'm putting on a goal for the whole of the next year. I will reach a second peak in my physical fitness (the first was 18) which will involve shifting 10 pounds (at minimum) a bit of gym work, lots of football, starting rock climbing again and lots and lots of walking.
Two short term goals for this is buy some shoes that I can walk about 2000 miles in and get inducted on my Uni's climbing wall.
Happy birthday for tomorrow, slizor - hope it's a good 'un! I'd post on this thread properly but I don't deserve to after the day of zero progress I've had.
Oh, happy birthday Slizor!
Slow start today as I went swimming first thing. Though that's good for me and helps clear my mind so maybe I should rephrase that - goal one, swimming 80 lengths, done!
I've got masses to do before next Tuesday but I'm not going to panic about it or worry that I've fallen behind the original workplan I drew up. That way lies despair and desperation! Today's goals will be perfectly achievable:
1.) Plan out what parts of my 10,000 word methodology document will be included in the 2,000 word methodology section of my upgrade report.
2.) If I have time, write this up (not a disaster if this happens tomorrow instead).
3.) Use the uni printer to print out everything done so far so that I can work from a print-out at home tomorrow!
Good morning!
My two goals for today are to write up the rest of my methodology section, and to have a good go at editing everything I've written so far.
I have decided to scrap my transcription for now. I have a meeting with my main supervisor, who is on sabbatical at the moment, tomorrow. Last week I worked out a brief thesis plan and realised it would be a good idea to flesh this out a bit more and to take it to show him, so this is my goal for this morning.
Gah, once again I've failed to hit my goal. Maybe I need to make them smaller, this is getting really demoralising! I've worked really hard today and got loads done, it's just there's so much more left to do.... Oh well, it'll get done, just not much time to rest until then.
Now I'm off for a meal with people in my research group. There'll be about twenty of us, so hopefully I won't get stuck sat next to my supervisor and have to make awkward small talk with him, or - worse still! - tell him how I'm progressing with this report! I could do with having the time to work on the report, but I'm sure I could use the break so I'll try to enjoy it!
Well, I managed to not talk about my own work once during last night's research group meal - even when my supervisor gave me a lift to the station! Just the kind of break I needed, I think.
Today I really am going to achieve the goals I set for myself yesterday. Even if I have to work til midnight!
1.) Finish writing up the methodology section of my upgrade report
2.) Start editing everything I've written so far and lose loads of words!
