Oh NOT HAVING A GOOD DAY! its 9.30, I've found a lump on my dogs paw :-( so have managed to get an emergency appointment at 10am - based on the fact she had surgery on the same paw on saturday, so I'm kind of hoping its related to that and not cancer or anything.
But I was due to have a tesco delivery 10-12. They're being really arsey about delivering it later, and are now saying I might have to pay for the weeks shopping and NOT actually get it! - v stressed! They are going to phone me back at some point, apparently
I don't foresee getting much work done until the afternoon!
Hi guys, mind if I join in? I'm currently re-writing and need to build up stamina to keep sitting behind this laptop until tasks are finished.
Had a bad start of the morning (had a threat yesterday that gas would be cut off because of non-payment. Spent all morning on the phone to a certain gas company only to find out it is for the same flat number, but on the other side of the courtyard where I live. Sigh...)
So, goal 1: write final bit (on biographies, which I know nothing about, except that they're fun to read) to add to lit review.

Helloo!
I think I'll join in, too. I'm sitting in bed recovering from a nasty bug today, with about 8 thick volumes all around me on the duvet, my un-typed notes and un-transcribed audios from about 2 weeks ago, and a building collection of empty water bottles and mugs...it's making me feel like I don't know where I could possibly start without it all collapsing in on top of me!!!
SO.
Goal 1: to get all said clutter off my bed and into its rightful home (NB this does not include making a detour to spring clean the entire flat - again)
Goal 2: transcribe and type up that data - finally!
Oh yes, how's the dog Sneaks? Poor you and Sue.... Hope you're both alright, and the dogs too.
Goal-wise:
Goal 1 is done, that's another 1000 words to either my lit review or introduction. I planning to cut words rather than add them... Oh well, better too many thatn not enough.
Goal 2: decide whether these lovely words go in the intro (have already started something on the topic there) or in the lit review (is it a review of, erm, "literature").
Goal 3: update bibliography.
well the dog has had another operation - the lump was the same grass seed that has migrated through the paw to the other side :-( The dog is now feeling sorry for herself.
I got the tesco delivery, but also a court summons from the council for £1400 council tax that we didn't know about because they've been sending the bills to the wrong address!
Anyways, I'm having the weekend off - its too hot to think!
Oh Sneaks I hope your dog is doing OK!
Right. I am back to work now after a week away at an international conference. A relatively late start and I have about a million things to do. My first goals are to call the department administrator to find out about the end of year panel which I didn't realise I had to do, and then to book a hotel for another conference in a few weeks.
Poor dog!
I'm finding it really hard to get going with the work today. I think it's because I took the whole weekend off! But I only have this week to get through and then I'm away on holiday for a fortnight! Yay! I just have to get my upgrade report completely finished, and luckily, when I met my supervisors on Friday they only wanted me to work on a couple of sections, so it should be easily manageable.
Hmm, maybe it's the lack of stress that's making it hard to get going?
Goals for today:
1.) Write up notes from Friday's supervision meeting and email them to supervisors.
2.) Plan out the work that needs doing over the next week.
3.) Get started on the work - do some of the easy bits!
But first I have to go shopping, because I have nothing to eat or drink in the flat!
I've had to skip an important event today because of pooch! not ideal, so need to make the most of the day.
Goals
- hoover floor so dirt can't get into dog wound
- take bandage off dog
- make sure dog doesn't eat stitches
PhD Goal
- Write one paragraph in my intro section
Gah it took me absolutely forever to find a cheap guesthouse near to where the conference is. It's now almost lunch time and I'm wondering where the morning went.
My next goal is to get a good chunk of my conference presentation written.
aww sneaks, poor you and your poor dog!! I hope she's feeling better today! I've spent the past few days veering wildly form hyper stressed to relief to stress again, with much tears in between! Goal for today is to get my last stats done!!
Sorry to hear about the dogs :-( Hope things work out.
My goals:
Make detailed plan of my final chapter and get it sent, or ready to send tomorrow, to my supervisor.
Then I can actually crack on with writing it when he gets back to me, or if we need to discuss it in person I can get on with my abstract/references instead.
Where did the morning go????
Erm I've hoovered the carpet and changed out of my meeting attire (as had to cancel cos of dog) into my lounge wear - as it was so hot this week, I stupidly decided to cut all my trousers off at the knee - I now have 3 pairs that just make me look like the hulk (with the raggady bits at the bottom due to poor scissor work).
Its now a monsoon outside, so no need for stupidly short trousers :-(
I need to get on with this paragraph, ARGH!
