AAARGH - paper is due tomorrow and sup wants to see it in the morning and it's still miles from being finished. And to complicate things, through writing it I've come to realise that one of the major things what we had planned to do can't be done really and that the plan needs to be substantially changed. It was the sup who suggested the original way and I need to tell her that it's not going to work but the paper was supposed to discuss this thing and now I really don't know how to approach it and I've only got til the morning to figure it out and write the paper. Sorry for hijacking the thread.
Goal 1 - re-read what Ive already got paper-wise and see what can be salvaged
Good luck Ev!
I am halfway through redrafting this section and am stopping now to go to the gym.
I'm making myself accountable for tomorrow, when I will get 14 tomatoes done because this week has been really crap and I need to get a grip.
Well I didn't finish the paper, but I did 500 words and got it to a point where I can finish it tomorrow. I need to revise for this interview again tonight!
Well I'm still working on it and it's nowhere near finished and I still don't know how I'm going to address the fact that we can't do what we want to the way we had been discussing. Also just had 2 hours pulling my hair out over formatting issues (section breaks in a 2 column layout wreak havoc) and that's 2 hours that I really can't afford to be wasting. I suppose I should just keep at it but all I want to do is go to sleep. So back to it
Hope the work went okay, Ev!
Today, I am determined to get lots of work done, because the rest of this week has been pathetic. So, early start and straight into it.
Goal 1 - revise the Lit Review section of my upgrade paper
ow, woken up with a nasty headache, been out for a dog walk and got soaked and now have a worse headache :-(
My goals today:
Finish the stupid intro
Try not to eat too much
Hope you feel better soon Sneaks, how is your dog's foot/leg now?
Goal one for this morning is to finish my proposal for the final time, on the last draft now and my supervisors are happy which is a relief..then I have to try to come up for a title for my PhD which I don't start until October. Then I'm meeting a friend for coffee, then back to work.
Have a good day everyone, Nx
Hi peeps, I've been missing for a while. I've had a hard two or three weeks were things just weren't going right. Mental health went down for a bit, then my physical health, and it was hard to focus on my work. Only managed to write a short paper (which needs to be submitted tomorrow) and the rest has been bits and pieces dotted around the thesis.
Isn't it frustrating when you're in that 'bits and pieces' phase? You put in a lot of work, but you can't really see a noticeable change in the final product :(
I'm getting worried about whether I am going to get everything done for the deadline...
anyway, tasks for today:
1. Carry on working on the new chapter
2. Work on the short paper when it comes back from sup, I really want to submit or at least finish work on it today.
Well done for getting back into things Pink Numbers.
My internet has been down this morning, which meant that I ended up getting loads done. Made considerable progress with my conference presentation (although I feel like I've been working on it forever now!) and I am now in the midst of putting a chapter together. To avoid getting sucked into procrastinating surfing the internet and catching up on whats been going on on my forums, my next goal is to do a particular small piece of analysis.

Well done Pink_Numbers, you're really getting back into it (sounds like you're achieving way more than I have done for the last few days anyway!)
And well done Star-Shaped too, sounds like you're really getting through it all!
I've finally got through the rewriting of my lit review section on my upgrade paper. It was a killer - trying to match gaps in the literature to my aims and objectives. Yuck! But I've finally cobbled it together, and hopefully when I look at it to redraft it over the weekend it won't seem half as bad as I think it looks now!
Goal 2 - after a short break to play games on facebook, anyway! - is to deal with minor changes my supervisors suggested for my Methodology section. If I can get that finished today I'll be very happy!
Goal 2 achieved, if I cheat and say I'm only doing as far as the next big lot of changes! Those can wait til tomorrow now. I'm so lazy at the moment! Maybe I'll sort out appendices or something useful like that before calling it a day.
Wow Batfink, you are rushing away! I'm ashamed to say, I've only just started considering methodology... that's the new chapter I'm working on, and realised that I've never thought about it properly before. oppps.
Star shaped - I never thought of lack of internet is productive towards work done, but now you mention it, it makes sense... I quit facebook last month because I was spending waaaayyy too much time 'just checking in'.
Tomorrow, submit short paper, finish copying notes into right sections for chapter.
off to make more gooseberry jam...
oh yeah, I realised today that I like Katy Perry... I'm gonna go pop my ear drums in shame now. :-s
Well I'm off for today. I've sent sup what I've done so far, which is more than I was expecting.
My dog, having had a nice little scab developing on the foot, has decided to knaw it away, so we are now minus 3 days of healing!
