That's awesome! Well done you! though I'm sad that makes my beautiful little icons a little bit redundant, what panel were you on?
OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! Woooohoooooooooooooooooooooo (damn, not a smiley enough smiley!!!)
Evil, evil AHRC - that is just mean!!!! To change it so we don't know whether to open or not - that is just pure cruelty lol - love that it was good news for you though!!! So, did you get the handbook?? What did it say? Last year successfuls had a load of stuff, acceptance form, rejection form, big blue book!
Yayyyyy, so so pleased for you!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you guys!!!!
I'm panel 2 I think, I'm doing American Studies, not literature based though, more towards cultural/film studies, so I think panel 2.
All I've got is a letter, acceptance and decline forms, it doesn't even tell me how much I'll be getting. They've referred me to the website for the details and terms and conditions etc. I'm guessing it's to cut down costs (more money for actual awards)?
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, well, I guess it kinda makes sense, all the info you need is on the website, there was a lovely big blue book that necessitated a lovely big fat envelope. Not even the amount?? Last year they detailed all that too - I kept coming down to read it in the middle of the night to make sure I hadn't dreamt it lol lol lol. It also took a few days to stop getting waves of nausea everytime the post came.
I just can't believe this though - awwww crap - its gonna make opening it a million times worse - good job you told us though or I wouldn't have bothered and who knows... lol
Congrats again, really really happy for you
oh oh, tell me though before you go and get 'celebrating'!! Is it an A4 size thin letter, or one of those little thin letters?? Must know - and what does a TLoD look like - does anyone know - one of the foldy type letters or a nice flat A4?? (and yes, I'm obsessed, I admit it!)
It's a standard sized envelope, with a window for the address.

^^^ the "bills" envelope.
It's sent 2nd class, the letter is dated 1st August. OK I'm off to celebrate!
Good luck to everyone, it might turn up tomorrow.
also what did it smell like?
how big was the typeface?
and did it say AHRC OFFICIAL RESULTS in big bold letters on it?!
lol, well, best to know, one might be brown and A4 and the other yellow with flowers and birthday card sized!!! you never know
Thanks for that and enjoy your celebrations
Now I must go and take some medication of some kind, my postman obsession is rapidly deteriorating into an envelope one too - this is so not good. I'm wondering if I can sue the AHRC for the deterioration of my mental faculties? This could take YEARS to get over
TloD....
Same type of envelope by the sounds of it, logo on the back.
The bloody idiots... this makes it even worse!!
x
BTW that makes three American studies related awards/rejections I know of today.
Maybe there is a pattern!
And congrats.
Maybe today is the day for that particular category then.... I'm feeling plunged into the depths of depression atm. I think I'm just knackered and I have a man-cold, (been working since 9am) and now know that I have the agony of opening the hateful envelope with no idea of what its contents will say
Wow - congratulations! Nice to finally hear some good news come through. The envelope situation is a rather devious development. Perhaps they'll start sending out FLoDs as well, just to mix things up a little; rejection letters packed with a glossy booklet recommending alternate careers....
If they want to cut costs, you would have thought they might move away from snail mail and just do it all online. Interestingly (or not) the royal mail describes 2nd class delivery as "for when time isn't important." WHAT?!
